Looking for any information regarding ties to the Huguenots for my
ancestor Jacob Duffordt. He came to America on the HERO. Landed in
Philadelphia on October 27,1764. He was from Nancy in the Alsace
Lorraine. His family had emigrated there about 200 years earlier.
I asked about de Turk, Marie. I have both ends of the puzzle, De Turk and
Hoffman, and am trying to connect the middle. Any help would be appreciated.

Greetings!
Last night I posted a version of what appears below to several mailing
lists. In the last 18 hours, I have received more than 100 requests for
information.
The kind list owner for the SC-Genealogy-L list, Laura Schmidt, has
graciously and mercifully invited me to begin publishing this work to
that list. This will save me the time and energy of trying to keep up
with and field responses from more than 100 people.
So, to read about your ancestors and/or description of life for
Methodists and
Please could someone who receives the digest version of
this mailing list please forward a copy of it to me at
"chsdss@aol.com" I am afraid that I might have missed something important.....
The copy I received seems to have gotten scrambled and I just
get jibberish....
Thank you

Anyone currently doing so?

I am new to this list and hopefully may be able to find some answers
here. We are playing a guessing game right now with our family roots. I
received this message earlier and thought I would give your list a try.

Hi,
My family, named Rose, migrated from Scotland. Family tradition holds
that they were Calvinist refugees from France. I find no evidence that
they were. Their given names were not French sounding, although they did
settle in a Calvinist community.
Does anyone have a similar situation?
Thanks,
Jack Rose
Ancestry.com has many DAR books on line, I think you can look at what they
have before paying the fee, there is a monthly fee. I have actually found
items of interest on this data base, alas, mostly accidently running into
other people's inquiries!
Hi Fort,
I also have a BENNETT in my ancestors. She is my grgrandmother on my
father's side. Jency BENNETT b. 04 Dec 1883, m. Lewis Harvey 'Harvey'

familiar? Would love to know if they came from Huguenot ancestry as I am
getting nowhere with TACQUETT.

Suggest you post a query on the DUBOIS-L@rootsweb.com list. It is
pretty much dedicated to researching your line. My line came south to
Charleston, and so far we haven't linked these families. The DuBois
Family Association in New Paltz, NY has the publications "The American
Descendants of Chretien DuBois" by William Heidgerd. Matt Murphy has
written "The European Ancestors of Chretien DuBois." Several people on
the DuBois-L list have these publications (I don't) and may be willing
to do lookups for you
Hi Sandra,
Yes I am trying to unsubscribe, and then subscribe to Huguenot digest.
Thank you so much for your offer to help!
I addressed the unsubscribe to Huguenot-L-request@rootsweb.com
Then in the message section, I typed in "Subscribe." (without quotation
marks)
Thank you so much!

Hi folks! I'm researching Huguenot immigration patterns for clues. In
the hope of having more particularized information, I would really like
to hear from anyone who has traced their Huguenot families from anywhere
else to South Carolina by 1730. I am particularly interested in those
leaving from England, the West Indies, and New York before 1700 who
settled in the Charles Towne area and/or Old Berkeley County. I'm
hoping my JOHN DUBOIS was among the same group as somebody out there.
What were your sou
I couldn't find a way to search DAR databases online, and only found
reference to a book that is described on this web page:
http://www.dar.org/library/libpub.html
So, if anyone can get access to this publication, please let us know. I
can forward to that someone the list of surnames that have been
requested so far. Then, if someone can let me know what books to pull,
I can go from there. In the DAR library, this is fairly simple, because
a lot are shelved in alphabetical order by surname.
Thank you!

Elizabeth,
Would you look up the name FEUILLEVERT for me? It is Huguenot, from
feuille, leaf, and vert, green, and translates into GREENLEAF in
English.
Thanks for your kind offer.

Hi Kevin,
Sorry about taking so long to reply, as you may know the Huguenot name
Le FEVRE rather wide spread in the 17th century, found in Denmark and
Holland to mention a couple of countries outside England and Ireland.
However this is what Sam Smiles has on the name:
Le FEVRE; Many refugees of this name settled in England. The Le Fevre's
of Anjou were celebrated as chemists and physicians. Nicholas, physician
to Louis XIV., and demonstrator of chemistry at Jadin des Plantes, was
invited over to England
I will post a few more names from Smiles but if you folks think it is
waste of time and space I shall not continue with the rest. As stated in
my last note this is not an all inclusive list, just a list that I will
do lookups from.
