I am looking for records of two Kilpatrick men, probably brothers, who were listed as executors of the will of Robert Kilpatrick in Crawford Co. PA. in 1857. They are Thomas and John Kilpatrick of Union Prairie, Allamakee Co. Iowa. Does anyone on this list have information about these Kilpatrick families that may be related to my James and Julia Kilpatrick from Crawford Co PA.? Any help will be appreciated. Ellie

Notice!! IAGenWeb, including the Allamakee co. message boards, is currently
being moved to a new server and periodic 'down' times are being experienced.
If you find that you can't access the obit board & get an error message ....
please check back later. It is expected that the move will be completed
within another week or so, if all goes well. Thanks for your patience!

Hi Jeannie,
I'm making plans to go 'home' in mid-September. Are you going to be around?
Lets try to get together for coffee or lunch or something.

I just realized that this update was incorrect:
"Marriage Records" - user-contributed database:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~iaallama/marry_index.htm
Zoll-Clark marriage newspaper article - from Dan Zoll (very interesting - if
you like mysteries!)
The bride's surname is COLLINS, not Clark. Sorry Dan!

I trust that everyone is enjoying getting outside this wonderful time of
year. If you have a free afternoon and are looking for a pleasant afternoon
outing .... consider grabbing your camera and heading for the nearest
country or city cemetery and snapping photos of the gravestones. Many of
the stones in our old cemeteries are deteriorating quickly and we may be
among the last generations to be able to read the inscriptions. If you live
in or near Allamakee co. or in Iowa -- please consider submitting yo

Earlier today we topped the 20,000 records mark for the Iowa Gravestone
Photo Project. This is nearly 5 months to the day since this IAGenWeb
Special Project was introduced.
Those of us involved in the development of the GPP would like to express
our thanks to the many IAGenWeb participating county coordinators and
especially to those researchers and volunteers who have contributed
thousands of photos and inscriptions in such a short time. A big thank you

The Allamakee IAGenWeb boards (obit, query, bio. & document) are being moved
to a new server, effective immediately. Please do not post to any of the
boards until I send a new message that the move has been completed. This
might be a day or two, but it is hoped that the boards will be at the new
server much sooner than that.
Thank-you!

For general information, census-information for 11 of the 12 townships
existing in Allamakee County during 1854
is now posted on the Internet site at

Six of those 11 were posted on Sunday, June 22nd (Franklin, Lafayette,

(Lansing) is now being proof-read and should be posted within the next two

Jen,
You might want to look in Elkader if he lived in Clayton co., but the
records might also be in Allamakee...... or you might find records in both
courthouses. My gg-grandfather declared his 'intent' to be naturalized in
Clayton co.(Elkader courthouse) but his actual naturalization papers are in
Allamakee (Waukon courthouse). If you can't find the records in either of
those counties, try Winneshiek (Decorah courthouse) or even across the
Mississippi in Crawford co., WI.
Good luck to you,

Thank-you so much Pat!! I'll get the Allamakee co. census page linked up to
the latest transcriptions so they can be accessed via the website as well.
All of your hard work is VERY much appreciated! A big thank-you to your
proof-reader too.

Just had a question and I thought that you guys might be able to help me. I
recently found out that my husband's great grandfather was naturalized (I
guess you would say) in Elkader. He also had his name changed legally.
Would these two types of records be in the same place?
Thank you very much.
Jen

The Allamakee co. message boards (and all Iowa boards) were moved to a new
server over the past couple days. The good news is -- this move is now
complete. The bad news -- This morning I was dismayed to see that all
postings made between June 2 and June 13 have disappeared, including the 9
obits that I posted on June 6th. I've emailed the technical team and they
tell me that all boards were affected and there is no way to recover the
missing submissions. Regretfully, I didn't keep copies on my comput
