Janet, although I don't even know that I have any connection with this cemetery, thank you so much for posting this information. My heartfelt appreciation goes out to the wonderful people who are making an effort to save this cemetery. I'm sure many people will benefit from their efforts. There is an index at the National Archives in D.C. of civil war veterans that received pensions. I go there occasionally and if you like, I'll look for Joseph Morris on my next trip. 5. Re: [IABENTON-L] Emma Miner - Benton County [0.989218]
Can you give some clue as to why you connect Emma to Benton County, a name, a place?? Do you know where and when she married? There is a Hiram Miner listed in the Civil War Soldier and Pension records from Blairstown. He is in 1870 census which would not show Emma. 14. [IABENTON-L] Emma Miner - Benton County [0.989218]
I am new to this list and I am searching for any information for Emma Miner. I know very little about her. I know that she married Walter Willis Foster and lived in Ohio. She was born in 1873 and she died Feb 1, 1931 in Columbus, Ohio. She is my grandmother and I would appreciate any assistance from anyone out there. Thank you
15. Re: [IABENTON-L] CIVIL WAR VETERANS - MORRIS [0.989218]
Fred: In the work in progress on CW soldiers from Benton County in adjutant general's list I have these Morris men: Allen, Elmyah, Isaiah, U.T. Willis is listed on pension list only which means he probably served from another state. There are some CW vets listed on the Iowa site but like the Benton co. site it is a work in progress and there is no index. 19. [IABENTON-L] CIVIL WAR VETERANS - MORRIS [0.989218]
I have given up on an ancestor I thought served from Illinois, and since he may have migrated to Iowa before the War, have started to search here (I thought Benton County would be the most logical since other relatives turned up here). I found a veterans list on the Iowa State site and searched through the Benton County volunteers with no luck. I looked for a statewide index, but didn't see one - did I just overlook it? Is there anyway to search by veteran's name in the whole state? I am looking for a J
20. [IABENTON-L] Marriage 1888-1889? [0.989218]
I am new to the Benton County List and hoping that someone may have access to an index for late 1880s marriages. I am looking for the marriage of: "Mac" (McClellan Napoleon) OBERLENDER/OBERLANDER/OVERLANDER and Leola ??? Cannot be sure of the first name of the bride....census record is in very poor penmanship. The couple probably married in 1888 or 1889. Thank you in advance for your time and effort. Glenda

Thanks so much for the good tips on the URLs with this information. I looked at them quickly, and can see that I have my work cut out for me searching the tons of data available. Surely with all that to look through I will be able to find my elusive Joseph MORRIS.
22. [IABENTON-L] Missing Messages [0.989218]
Hello- I subscribe to the digest version of this list. A couple of times I've posted to the list, but have not seen my posting come through on the Digest, when I've received the Digest. Could someone tell me whether this is standard on this list ? Whether there is a problem of some sort ? Regards, Karen
