1. New Site [1]
I have taken some of the mailings sent to the IABLACKH mailing list and constructed a site of varying information which has come through the list. As I went back and looked at the archives of the list....I am surprised it even existed! Ouch, that sure doesn't say much for my getting it going does it. But we sure got it running now. There were a total of 64 messages between June, 1999 and August, 2000. Then BANG! In September there were 188 new messages. It is great to see us getting involved and help
2. Re: MRS R C BRUNCO [1]
Doing all the research that I have in the record books, I have come across many many misspellings of surnames. Sometimes I think that they just spelled them the way that they sounded and not the way they were intended to be. Nancie
3. Photographing/Scanning old documents [1]
Thought I'd pass this on from Recent Dear Myrtle column on making photos and scans of old documents on a trip done far away in this case Germany. She also has wonderful sites and sources for checking on German ancestors: "Categorically DO NOT assume that the research facility you will visit will have photocopy equipment. In my research trip...., I spent the majority of my time in tiny little churches, where I was lucky to view the original "Family Book" or church record books, but I had to take photos and

5. Again - Hand Held Scanner [1]
I finally found the magazine which has the hand-held scanner in it. It is called Global Computer Supplies www.globalcomputer.com The scanner which I saw there is the C Pen, $249 or $149. The most expensive model is the C-Pen 600, reads and translates in seconds. The scanner is an electronic highlighter that collects and memorizes printed information. It contains a digital camera that photographs the text, and is then processed by Optical Character Recongnition (OCR). The scanned data is stored as a

Hi I looked in my Waterloo/Cedar Falls phone book but there are no Brunco listed there. The spelling Brunko had a few listings, but no R Brunko. If you would like those, let me know. Pat W

No I don't at this time, but I will put Price on the surname list for the next round of research. I will then let you know when they are uploaded. THAT'S THE KEWLEST STORY and I am overwhelmed at everything you do Nancie, and everything you endure every single day. Your story certainly does maintain my humble attitude on genealogy, life, gifts and blessings. WOW!!! For anybody that has not taken the time to go read this article, YOU SHOULD!!! ...and Nancie, yes, you should write a book - I'd buy it!!! 9. MRS R C BRUNCO [1]
Good Morning All: On September 23rd, Nancie was kind enough to e-mail me via this list, a write-up that appeared about Anna K. Hiler's death on Wednesday, April 3, 1974 written in the Waterloo Courier. (If I didn't give Nancie my profound thank you of gratitude, Thank you Nancie - thank you). That write-up produced, of course, yet another name (actually two names): Mrs. R.C.Brunco. I love it when they do that, don't you? Mrs. for a forename! The article states that she lived in Waterloo. Since I don't

Here are the complete (I think) list of links for the Access Denied series written by the Waterloo Courier How public are Iowa records? The Courier, in conjunction with 12 other Iowa newspapers, brings you an in-depth series about Iowa's open-records law, government agencies and accessibility to public information. 11. Re: MRS R C BRUNCO [1]
Nancy et al: Good Afternoon/Evening! Could it be that the Waterloo Courier misspelled the last name: BRUNCO vs. BRUNKO like that? I'm puzzled! 16. Re: Marriage Updates [1]
Nancy I don't have online service, just juno email. Could you tell me if you have a Blackhawk county marriage in 1800's for a Anna or Elizabeth Wood to a man named Price. Probably after 1850 but before 1880. One of her Price husbands died about 1863 supposedly in Blackhawk county and she remarried his brother. Possible Price mens names were Judson Price and Benjamin Harrison Price. One other favor, could you tell me if there would be a record of Judson Price's death if he did died in 1863? The

19. Re: MRS R C BRUNCO [1]
Guess what!? Right after I wrote that e-mail to the list, I went to the SSDI to see what was listed under just the surname of BRUNKO and believe it or not fellow researchers, there is a ROLLAND BRUNKO listed whose last residence was Waterloo, IA. I have a good feeling about this ROLLAND BRUNKO as the dates would be within the time frame (using calculations from when Anna K. Hiler was born, approx. how old she'd be when she had her first or one of two kids, and backing that up year by year on the SSDI). N
