Hi Bonnie,
This sounds like the right family. The fact that Mary and Lena might be sisters sounds right. If you could find an obit for Mary Pothast, I would sure appreciate it. Do not go to a lot of trouble. Thank you very much for your information. It gives me something to go on.

Hello,
I am looking for information, specifically maiden names, of Lena Cook and Mary Mether (possibly sisters). They were both in Bremer County in the 1900 census, Mary being married to a Charles Mether. These two ladies were cousins of my relative Henry Krieger who died in Mason City Iowa in 1938

That census indicates his parents were born in Wis. (father) and NY (mother). My question is: who were they? Also, all of Marvin Sr's family were born in NY"

Bonnie,
Sorry I meant to say a Caroline Pothast obit would likely give me the information that I need, not Mary's. Actually any name resembling Krieger/ Krager or Nethermire/Nedermire or any thing of that nature would actually be what I am looking for.
Thanking you in advance.

The Mary Mether that lived by my sister is a different one. I did find a Mary S. Pothast that married Charles Mether on October 31, 1886 in Bremer Co., IA . He was born 1863 in Illinois and she was was 1870. In the 1885 census of Washington Twp., Bremer Co. it lists the family of Henry Pothast and wife, Caroline wit

I knew of Mary Mether. She was a neighbor to my sister. I can check on her obit and get back to you. My sister may have more info for you. She lived east of Waverly on a farm.
