I have the book " Grand River Reflections" Their are several pictures in it that were taken at the surrounding area county schools. If anyone wants copies of pictures that are in the book I will be happy to scan and send. My favorite picture is one taken in front of the Daughton school that was east of Grand River. I also have a picture of 6th , 7th and 8th grades from the school in town , I am sure it was 1940. I missed the small school pictures that year as I had Polio and was sent to Iowa City

Jerry, I have Pickerings connect to my Hullinger line. As they are not in my direct line, I haven't kept much but I know someone who has LOTS of Pickerings as it's her direct line. BTW, is this the Jerry who has a webpage on the internet that has living peoples stuff posted on it (like mine)?

Hi, I am going to be in the area in May/June and am wondering where I might go to find info about a family that lived in Decatur Co. between 1854 and 1880. Is there a state historical society? Robert, The Leon Public Library has all the Deactur County Census rolls and microfilm reader available, in addition to a couple of well stocked shelves of genealogy works and books. I'm working on a small work to place there when I'm through with it. My aunt Brenda works there. Some counties are pretty complete on the records of who's buried where. Decatur county is fairly complete, about 80-85%, they have all available cemetery records located in the Leon library, there are no records resident with any pa

13. William Dillon Family, 1880 census [1]
I am looking to trace back the William Dillon family who was living in Decatur county in the 1860 census. William was born in 1822/23 in OH and his wife Elizabeth (?) was born in 1818 or so in VA. In the 1860 census they had a son Abraham and Henry both born in OH. Abraham born in 1844 and Henry born in 1846. The William Dillon family moved to Decatur County, IA about 1856. The sons grew up there and both married there. Abraham married Jane Galpin and Henry married Emmaline Galpin. Abraham continued t

Hi all, I am searching for the parents of Henry SIMMONS. I'd also like to find a picture of him. According to his obituary, which appeared in the Garden Grove (Iowa) Express: He was born in Goshen, NY on May 11, 1804. At the age of 14 he left home and went to New York City where he remained 38 years chiefly engaged in the mercantile business. In the spring of 1856 he moved to Republic, Ohio. In March 1858 he moved to Garden Grove, Iowa. It appears that both Henry and his wife were members of the Episcopal
