SOCIAL MELANGE.
Miss Ruby STEDMAN gave a very pleasant reception at her home Thursday night.
A number of young people, a few young married couples, and the school
teachers of our public school, and Miss JUDD, a teacher from near Garden Grove,
Iowa, were among the fortunate participants.
In addition to the pleasure imparted by a fair degree of sociability, Miss
Ruby provided her guests with a literary and musical program, including the

I don't know if it will help in this instance, but years ago a well known speaker we had at a Genealogical Conference told us it often is helpful to write to a librarian and tell them briefly what you desire. Enclose a SASE and ask the librarian to recommend a teen ager old enough to drive who is reliable and looking for a way to make money [what teen ager doesn't need more money?] Then send that teen ager $5.00 or whatever the job might require & ask them to do it for you. If the librarian chooses well, y

Has anyone had any hits so far in the 1885 Iowa State Census for Decatur
County? I have finished Bloomington Twp. and Part of Burrell Twp. and will be
putting those pages up either late tonight or sometime tomorrow. Then I will
have to go back to the library and start copying again. I'll have more for
you on that next week hopefully. One of the things that I especially like
about the 1885 state census is that if the person was born in Iowa, it tells you
what county they were born in. That c

connect my William DILLON with his proper parents and ancestors. My
William DILLON was born in Ohio in 1822. (County of birth not known.)

his wife Elizabeth (?) and their three young sons: Abraham age 6, Henry
age 4 and John age 3.
In 1853 William moves his family to Decatur County Iowa where he bought
a farm. William and Elizabeth donated a part of that f
