Nancee,
Sometime back you indicated that you had a genealogical (I thought)
interest in the Koger family.
My late wife had a great grandmother by the maiden name of Cowger,
from Wapello County, Iowa. The family had the name of Koger a 100 years
before, back in (West) Virginia. Some branches of the family changed
their names, some did not.
Is this something that you would care to explore?

A LADY'S PERFECT COMPANION.
PAINLESS CHILDBIRTH, a new book by Dr. John H. Dye, one of New York's
most skillful physicians, shows that pain is not necessary in
childbirth, but results from causes easily understood and overcome. It
clearly proves that any woman may become a mother without suffering any
pain whatever. It also tells how to overcome and prevent morning
sickness, swelled limbs, and all other evils attending pregnancy. It is

Jan Lund e-mailed me and said the word was "ambrosial" instead of
embrasial. I looked in Webster's and it says: something that has a
delicious taste or smell; the food of the ancient Greek and Roman Gods.
She explained it as "ambrosia" - that wonderful fruit salad we've all
made. That does sound delicious!! Thanks Jan!
So, any of you who have kept this obituary, please change the word to

Cloudy tonight. Think it will rain.
Harvesting all done and threshing commenced. MR. BALLARD threshed
today. His oats are splendid and averaged between 40 and 45 bushels to
the acre. JOHN WALKER started his thresher today.
MRS. CRUISE WALKER went to Leon on the pony express Thursday to attend
the show.
Those who went to the show from this place say it was a poor excuse for
a show. The pony express took a load of boys down.

Also, Winterset, Iowa has his (John Wayne's) birthplace as a tour

with John Wayne shirts/posters/pictures and the likes. Very interesting
place.

Last week the community was made sorrowful by hearing of the railroad
collision in which JAMES GOEN lost his life. His half brother, MR.

Thinking that he might save the life of his brother on the other train,
he stuck to his own train when every one else jumped off. In the
collision one leg was crushed, the other broken in two places, while he
sustained other injuries. He was taken home and lived about six hours.
