Hello list,
I am researching my ancestors from Webster City, Hamilton. I would like to post my names for the first time, and I hope that I do this right as I am a beginner at this. I am from Vancouver BC Canada and am not familiar with IOWA , but do know that they were from Webster City (is it still called this?).
I am researching
NEESE Clyde he was born here and went to Ellsworth College for three years and led the college band there (1901-1906). I am not sure of the exact years. He was also in the
Hi everyone,
I am still searching for information on my ancestors NEESE, WHALEY, WARNER
I have found some notes in my grandmothers book and it says that they lived near Bell's Mill where my 2x great grandfather spent his boyhood and that his father built the first schoolhouse there. Could someone tell me more about Bell's Mill if they are able. I would like to know more about this schoolhouse as well. I think it is somewhere in Saratoga or Stanhope. The father who built the schoolhouse ,his name was Was
Hi all,
Would anyone from this list happen to have a cemetery index for Graceland
Cemetery that would be able to do a look-up for me on my Hyatt surname? I
can't find this cemetery listed with the IGS holdings, so I am keeping my
fingers crossed.
Thanks,
Kerri
Barb,
Yes, Webster City is the Hamilton county seat. (Ellsworth College is in
Iowa Falls, Hardin County.)
Clyde and Florence are buried in the Saratoga Cemetery, as well as many
other Neese and Whaley family members. The cemetery is 8 miles south of
Webster City, on Highway 17, then one mile west.

Hi Barb,
I can't tell you much about the history of Bell's Mill, but
I know that it is north of Stratford in Hamilton County. I
grew up south of Stratford and I haven't been around much
for 25 years. Let me do some checking when I get back over
in a couple of weeks to see what I can find out for you. I
know that Stratford did some centennial stuff awhile back
and maybe I can locate some local history for you about the mill.

Hi Barb,
You've probably already been to this site, but if not, do look at the section on Risley County. Washington Neese is mentioned there.

I would imagine Bell's Mill got it's name from one of the Bells in the area, like Belleville.
My first family member in the area probably dates to about 1849, but most arrived in 1855 (Ferlen family). The Neese family is quite abundant in the area of Hook's Point/Stratford, so I would imagine you have many "cousi
I'm interested in connecting with anyone researching the Robinsons of
Hamilton Co.. My great-great-grandparents Herman H. Robinson and Charry M.
Robinson migrated from Long Island, New York, to Henry Co., Illinois, and, in
1870, to Hamilton Co., Iowa, where they were in the flour milling business
(near Webster City). They had five children: Henry, Frank, Horace, Ed and Eva
Marie. By 1880, Herman and Charry were in the New Providence area, Hardin
Co., Iowa.
Thanks for any help.
