MISSOURI VALLEY - Richard L. Johnson, 68, of Missouri Valley died Aug. 15 at
Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley. Services are pending at
Hennessey-Aman Funeral Home.
Eleanor L. Schleidt, 79, of Council Bluffs died Friday of natural causes at
Risen Son Nursing Home.
She was born on Jan. 16, 1925, in Dow City to Charles and Edna (Head) Rigsby,
and graduated from Dunlap High School in 1943.
A homemaker and quilter, she had lived in Council Bluffs since 1949. She was
a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, St. Ann's Altar and the Rosary
Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Schleidt Sr., on Sept. 24,
1974, her parents and a grandson, Matthe

Merrill J. "Bud" Henry, 79, of Council Bluffs died July 26 at Jennie
Edmundson Hospital.
He was born March 10, 1925, in Shenandoah to Orval B. and Gertrude (Brenaman)
Henry. He was a 1944 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School. He served in
the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked for Storz Supply Co., Union
Pacific Railroad and the United States Postal Service as a mail clerk for 30 yeas,

I'm seeking information about Thomas Jefferson Lewis and his family, one
of the founders of Preparation, Iowa. His daughter, Sylvania married John J.
Conyers and is buried in Preparation Cemetery.
Does anyone have a copy of "From the Loess Hills of Iowa" who could look
up any references to the Thomas Jefferson Lewis family?
I can't afford to order the book on the chance there might be
information I don't already have. Thank you so much for your help.

MISSOURI VALLEY - Richard L. "Dick" Johnson, 68, of Missouri Valley died Aug.
15 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley.
Dick joined the Iowa Conservation Commission, (now known as the Department of
Natural Resources) in October of 1964 and became the Game Warden for Harrison
and Shelby counties for 37 years, until his retirement in December of 2000.
He was preceded in death by his father, Theodore Johnson.

LOGAN - Edith (Godden) Pitt, 91, of Logan died Aug. 9 at Longview Care Center
in Missouri Valley.
She was born Nov. 26, 1912, in a sod house near Ainsworth, Neb., to George
and Ada (Fry) Godden. She spent her formative years in the Logan area and
graduated from Logan High School. She married Lawrence Pitt on Dec. 26, 1929. The
