1. MCMILLAN-BUCHER-KEAN-GILMORE [1]
I was recently in Mount Pleasant and went to the Old City Cemetery and to the library. I have a photo-copy of the Last Will & Testament of Thos. McMillan. He is buried next to Mary Matilda Bucher Gilmore and has daughters married to BUCHER, KISTER and KEAN. I am anxious to get a copy of this will into the hands of his family and hope to solve some mysteries of my own - ! Does anyone recognize this family - ? 2. Naming Patterns [1]
The IIGS Newsletter is now out. An interesting article this month is Unpuzzling the Past Via Naming Patterns by Penny Bonnar. Understanding these naming patterns can help determine the parents and grandparents when they are unknown. The URL is below: http://www.iigs.org/newsletter/9906news/naming.htm.en
3. sorry-test [1]
I'm trying to determine just how bad the geocities/yahoo merger is screwing up my ability to use the genealogy e-mail lists. Sorry...
4. re:Help messages [1]
If you have sent a personal e-mail to me rather than to the list, I must apologize for being unable to answer all of your messages. I have been swamped lately from people clicking on my e-mail address on my many different web sites or by hitting "reply to" on the list which sends the messages back to me. In addition, the spammers have been unusually busy the last few weeks and packing my mailbox with trash that Rootsweb has filtered out and sent to me instead of to the list. These have to be reviewed and us
5. Center Cemetery, Jefferson Twp [1]
Would someone please help me find where Jefferson Township is in Henry County, and where Center Cemetery is in Jefferson County. The only maps I can find do not have the townships on them. I have tried some of the map places on the net, with no success. I found some of my CARTER family listed there through the Henry Co., Iowa GenWeb pages. We are planning a trip that way the end of July, and would like to pay our respects. Penny Brown Ft. Myers Beach, Florida
6. Abbe-Baltimore Cemetery [1]
My cousin recently found the Abbe-Baltimore Cemetery in Baltimore Twp., Sec. 18. Many of our family are buried there. The last burial seemed to be over a hundred years ago. It was difficult to find and there really wasn't even a road to it, yet the cemetary itself was neatly mowed. We are curious about who is maintaining this tiny cemetery. My favorite cemetery in Henry Co. is Hickory Grove, also filled with our family which includes the Johnsons, Skiptons,Winters and Walter families. Thanks. Dee
7. Center Cemetery, Thanks [1]
Thank you all for you respponses to my query on where is Center Cemetery. I now feel confident that we will be able to drive right to it later this summer. It will be nice to give our respects to the CARTER, REILLY, and ZINGG relatives buried there. You people have certainly proved that the RootsWeb lists are definitely worth subscribing to. Thanks again Penny Brown Ft Myers Beach, Florida

9. Posting obituaries [1]
I have just reviewed and tweaked the Post an Obituary Form and it seems to be working again. If any of you have obituaries that you would like to post on-line which may generate some correspondence on your surnames, please feel free to submit them. This is not limited to new obituaries but can be obituareies of any date. I know the form is misleading, but in time the obituaries will be posted and sorted into CCHELPER the same way the queries are now being handled. This will put them into a chronological an
10. re:image viewers [1]
This is not a commercial and I am not connected with the company in any way, but I have been using a little program that is really neat for viewing and sorting graphics. I am a bit of a graphics junkie. I am always downloading new graphics and the author's logos thinking I may use them someday. Then when I go to use them I have to search for the artist's logo. I have tried several but like ACDC the best as I can view them in thumbnail or larger format with the click of a mouse. I do a lot of sorting into ca
