?Has the IALINN list been spammed? Or, is this a legitimate use of the maillist? Given the increasing number of phony and malicious attacks on computers, we're hesitant to respond via either of the web sites. Thanks for any help that might be provided. My 3rd-great grandfather, John Osborn, is one of few Revolutionary War soldiers buried in Iowa. The townspeople placed a memorial marker on his grave. Also, besides my Osborn relatives buried at the Center Point cemetery my Holcomb great-grandparents are also buried there. Homer Holcomb has been the stone wall in my genealogy. I only know he was born in Ohio. Through the Osborns, I am also a descendant of the famous Boone-Morgan family. Hannah Boone (youngest sister of Daniel, is my 6th great gr

Marion-Linn Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution would love to have a copy of Nathan Brown's pension papers as one of the meetings this year will probably be visiting the grave's of the Revolutionary Soldiers buried here in Linn County. We need to learn more about him. Land here was given for service in so many different wars! Often the owner did not come out here but some did like Nathan Brown. 14. [IALINN] Nathan Brown [1]
Hi found the following within the Linn County Web Site - "One of the earliest settlers in the county had served in the Revolutionary war. Nathan Brown, who came here in 1839 and for whom Brown township was named, at the early age of sixteen years joined the American forces." I have discovered Rev War Pension Records which match this person, Nathan Brown who's wife Tamas I find living in in Linn County, in 1850. I believe that Nathan is the brother of my GGG Grandfather and I have informat

16. [IALINN] Nathan BROWN [1]
I would be very interested in the bible records of the Nathan Brown family. I am descended from Sarah Jane Lewis, first wife of Horance N. Brown, Son of Horace and Tamar. Sarah Jane Lewis evidently ran off with William Stiles about 1850-1851. In the 1850 census, Sarah Jane Lewis Brown and two children were living with Tamar Brown. Also in the household was William Stiles. I have the descendants of the two Brown children and would be interested in exchanging information. The Brown family resided in Erie

Thank you for the link to this History. I have a membership at Ancestry but I didn't find them in the Iowa Census. I have to correct something I said. The one census I found them in is the 1880 US census and not the 1870. They lived on Ely Street then in District 2, ED district 256. names: Thomas and Johanna Brien (actually Breen) and children Bartholo, Maggie and Catherine. Of course it would be difficult to find the girls again if they got married but I can't find the son Bart after this. I've h
19. [IALINN] St Patrick's Church, Cedar Rapids, IA - 1900's [1]
Is there anyone on the list that has access to the Baptismal records or member records of St. Patrick's Church in Cedar Rapids in the early 1900's? I am looking for a record for Julia Healy Crago b. 1853 at County Cork, Ireland. She may have been baptized in 1854 in Ireland. She was a member of St. Pat's around 1818. I would assume that her membership record would have her date of baptism. Also her records may give me answers to all the other unanswered questions I have concerning Julia Healy Crago. T

I did a search for Iowa Gebweb - then came to the State Site - then choose Linn County. Within that site - I did a search for my family. http://www.usgennet.org/usa/ia/county/linn/toc.htm I found this link for Linn County, it shows some of the History of Linn Co bios, not sure if all the names are listed. Where did you find this book, The History of Linn Cnty? Is it online or did you purchase it? I have a dead end in Linn Cnty that has been driving me crazy for awhile now. A family I know lived in this cnty from 1870 through 1912 disappears after being enumerated in the 1870 census. I've tried dozens of spellings (or mis-spellings) of their name with no luck. I even tried adjoining counties. They couldn't have moved very far from Linn Cnty, as husband and wife are buried at Mt. Calvary. The wife
