6. THE OLIVER BROWN FAMILY [1]
Thank You Janet for ALL of your efforts and hard work concering Oliver Brown, Howard Brown and Orval Brown. You have been a tremendous help and you know this. However, finding out more about these three guys raises more questions and I wonder if I can call on all of you to possibly help. OLIVER BROWN was born on December 5, 1878 in Urbana, IA to Huston Brown and Nancy Jane (nee Long) Brown. He married Minnie Davis between 1898 and 1901 but I don't know where or the exact date. After Oliver's death, Min

Hi Carol (PardeeGal) - Thank you kindly for the address of the Linn County Historical Society, although, I have a very thick book called FIND PUBLIC RECORDS FAST for every single State in the USA, every single county and every courthouse. Do you mind if I ask what the purpose of this list is? If it is soley to give out the historical society's address and phone number, the list is in vain as that address and phone number is also all over the internet's Linn County, IA pages. Thank you! I made a "genealogical" request/askance for "...and I wonder if I can call on all of you to possibly help." What in the world is going on here? Suddenly, I am being asked WHERE I live because I made a request for help, as though this is a chat room or something. When I made the request below, I was told to "be responsible" and pay for the information via the Linn County Historical Society in Cedar Rapids (they have moderate fees) which has many copies of obituaries, was critiqued on their filing system an

Cathie People on this list help - if they happen to be a direct descendant - and already have the answer - if not they are helpful in directing - BUT - it is your responsibility to spend the time and money to contact the historical society - court houses - funeral homes, etc. for the answers. It is also your reward when you find the answer. During my researches I have found encouragement, from people on the list - which means alot when you hit a brick wall. My searches are for Garnett - Garrett - Webber -
13. HOWARD BROWN [1]
Is there anyone on this list that may be able to assist me in locating a HOWARD BROWN, son of Oliver Brown. My mate, Bob, remembers visiting Howard Brown at his home in Cedar Rapids when Bob was MUCH younger. He remembers the name Fern as being associated with Howard and tends to believe that it would have been his wife. Howard had a brother named Orville or Orval Brown but do not believe that Orville lived in Cedar Rapids. Howard was probably born between 1900 - 1910 in Benton County so there would be

Cathie, As moderator for the IaLinn list I want to apoligize to you for any rudeness expressed to you by a member of this list. You are exactly right this list is to help others with info lookups etc. when possible. NOT to promote the sales of any genealogical society. While I support and appreciate the work the Linn Co. Society this list is not to promote their sales. Once again I am sorry for that email you recieved. Sandra Sanchez USGenWeb Census Co-ordinator Maryland-Indiana USGenWeb CC Orange Co.
