My greatgrandpa was Jacob Bigley. He was married to a Catherine and Amy Ann Perkins. How many Jacob Bigley's are there from Iowa? He and Amy Perkins lived in Decatur County most of the time. Maybe your Jacob and mine were cousins? I guess it will take time to find that out, though.

In the 1880 Federal Census, the Alfred & Josephine Wingate family was listed as living as living in Malvern. They ended up in Des Moines at some point after that. In the 1870 Federal Census, they were living in Winneshiek County in NE Iowa. I am curious if there are any Wingate relatives

Thanks, I'll have to review my records to be sure I am in the same family. There are two. Go back and read the thread with this line. It gets pretty complicated. My Karns/ karnes/kerns/kearns/ etc. came from Virginia, but they were probably all the same family. What makes things really difficult, is that ea

My grandfather Konrad Henry Meyer lived in the Mineola area in the early 1880s. He worked for a man named Fred Bichel who later became my great uncle when he married my mother's aunt Bertha Chrestin. About 1885 Grandpa Meyer, the Bichels and my other grandparents (Doose/Dose/Dohse) bought land in Wayne County, NE.
This morning Margaret has added to the Mills County website
several articles from old Mills County Tribune newspapers. The
articles were mostly contributed by Deb Hascall. Thank you Deb.
Anyone interested in a little history of Mills County will enjoy
these.

I am researching BUCKINGHAM, CONNER, GILLILAND, HODGE, MILLER, & HAYNIE in
Mills County, from 1850's to present.
According to family history, John L. BUCKINGHAM owned a store in Pacific
Junction between 1880-1884. Two of his ten children were born there, Strather in
1881, and Lester in 1883. How can I find a record to prove the store existed?
What is the difference between Pacific Junction and Pacific City.

My Karns/ karnes/kerns/kearns/ etc. came from Virginia, but they were
probably all the same family. What makes things really difficult, is that each
generation named the kids the same names as the last generation, so Alexander,Born
1851,last child of Cynthia Lee and Jonathan Karns is different. But his older
brothers may have named a child Alexander and probably did! I'll get back in
touch. Pat.
I am interested in this Cynthia Lee - do you have any information on
her???
Thanks

Hi List,
I finally got to the Van Eaton Cemetery today to take pictures of my 4th
Great Grandmother and one of her son's graves. Stephen and Lois Buckingham,
owners of the property the cemetery is located on are wonderful people. After
showing us how to get up there Stephen said to come back and let him know what we
found. We knocked on the door and he invited us in, offered us a beer and we
discussed families for 2 hours. What a good day for all of us. I just wish
everyone was as helpful as the
Hi to all,
Margaret has added the 1930 census index for Malvern. Remember if
you want further information on any of these families I can send
that to you. I have found that many of you either subscribe to
Ancestry.com or have access to the free HeritageQuest online
census records. No index yet for either of them as far as I know.
There will be more things uploaded soon. Keep tuned for the
latest.

First go to Cemeteries on the Mills webpage and find a
description of where the Hillsdale Cemetery is located then go to
the township index for Center Township and click on plat map.
Locate the cemetery by using the description.
