5. Manhattan Cafe or Lunchroom [1]
I'm interested in finding out more about the Manhattan Cafe, next to the Iowa Hotel, near 4th & Wanut in downtown Des Moines. The Cafe was run by my great-grandfather Jesse Layton until his death in about 1940. I have some old photos and a menu. Several other relatives also worked there. Does anyone remember eating there? 8. Rockhill [1]
Hi, I'm trying to understand the best way to find information on a person (Joseph L. Rockhill) who presumably died in Polk county on January 18, 1919 (born: 1844) and is buried in the County section of Glendale cemetery. The cemetery has limited information, nothing beyond what is contained in this email. I have scanned the Register and Tribune around the time of death for an obituary. Are there other sources that someone can recommend? I need to understand his relatives (wife, parents, siblings, children
