Listers,
Just wanted to let you know that the March 2003 Obituaries and the

Listers,
Charter-Pierce has added the "J" listings to the Glendale Cemetery. Due to the size of Glendale we are adding the listings one letter of the alphabet at a time and we will notify you as others are added.
Thanks and happy hunting.

Duane Pierce

Marie Jane or Jane Marie Balius. She was born Feb.1920 and lived in
DesMoines. She had two sisters. She was afflicted with polio to one leg. She
had one son, Thomas Allen Leeper born July 31,1940. She left DesMoines in
1942 or 43 and moved to California. I don't know much more than that. I
don't know her parents names.

I'm interested in finding out more about the Manhattan Cafe, next to the
Iowa Hotel, near 4th & Wanut in downtown Des Moines. The Cafe was run by my
great-grandfather Jesse Layton until his death in about 1940. I have some
old photos and a menu. Several other relatives also worked there. Does
anyone remember eating there?

Dear List:
I'm wondering if someone on this list would be willing to do a Sioux
City city directory look-up. Copies of the directories are at the Iowa
State Historical Society in Des Moines. There is one individual and I'm
interested in three specific years. I will reimburse for expenses.
Thanks very much for any assistance!
Carol

Hi,
I'm trying to understand the best way to find information on a person
(Joseph L. Rockhill) who presumably died in Polk county on January 18, 1919
(born: 1844) and is buried in the County section of Glendale cemetery. The
cemetery has limited information, nothing beyond what is contained in this
email. I have scanned the Register and Tribune around the time of death for
an obituary. Are there other sources that someone can recommend? I need to
understand his relatives (wife, parents, siblings, children
