1/19/01 I was told that my GGrandmother, Abigail (SMITH) PARTRIDGE, b abt 1857, died in Council Bluffs and was buried there in 1896, but I did not find her in the Walnut Hill Cemetery microfiche that I ordered from LDS. Would anyone have access to any other cemetery index? I don't know what other cemeteries might be around there. She was the wife of Godfrey PARTRIDGE. Thanks for your help. 3. [IAPOTTAW] KINNERUP, Esta born 1894 Council Bluffs, IA [0.988607]
Hi Listers, I am researching the Kinnerup and Nicolaisen families, and I would like to know who the parents of Esta Kinnerup were. Esta was born 6 April 1894 in Council Bluffs. In her Social Security Application, her parents are stated as Walter Nicolaisen and Karoline Pedersen. From other researchers I know, that Walter came from Denmark, and probably Karoline did too. Most immigrants changed their name some time after their arrival, and to be sure of his identity, I need to know what Walter's first nam

Hi, on behalf of the Pottawattamie County Genealogical Society I invite you to check our home page http://www.rootsweb.com/~iapottaw/. We list all the local and county cemeteries plus a ton of other good stuff. Our society has a wonderful library and a great staff of volunteers who will do look-ups. We do not charge to research but do request donations to copy and mail the records to you. Contact us at the library at pcgs@qwest.net with your request. We are always glad to help. Thanks for all the help. I'm pretty sure Walnut and Walnut Hill are different places. Mine's probably the rundown one. My ggg-grandparents Isaac COPLEY and Elizabeth ROOD moved to Pottawattamie Co in about 1880. Elizabeth died in 1889, Isaac in 1905. They are buried in Row 23 of Walnut Cemetery in Layton Twp. Walnut Hill Cemetery may be old but it is not run down. There is an office right as you enter the cemetery and the lady in there is more than willing to help you locate your family plot and she even photographed the records that they had on file for me. I personally thought the cemetery was beautiful compared to some that I have seen. It is located up by Jenny Edmondson Hospital. Gail

I have a copy of East Pottawattamie County Cemetery Records, Vol. I, Book 1, which was compiled by members of the Botna Valley Genealogical Society and published by the Iowa Genealogical Society in 1982. It includes Walnut Cemetery. The books states that the cemetery is in Section 10, Township 38 north of the railroad. I can't tell where the cemetery is in relation to the town of Walnut, but the cemetery is on two sides of a highway, with a walking bridge to cross from one side to the other. Sections
