I found another Nielsen biography in the Past and Present of Shelby County
(1915). There is on page 1438-39 a bio for ANDERS C. NIELSEN, a native
of Denmark, born there on Jan 24, 1874, near Hjoring, son of CHRISTIAN
and CHRISTENA (MORTINSON) NIELSEN. Anders was one of 8 children born to
his parents, four of whom died by the time the bio was written.

Also in St. Mary's Cemetery, Shelby Co., is Samuel Carroll, b. 1831, d.
June 17, 1900. The book Past & Present of Shelby County, Iowa, dated 1910,
states that Samuel Carroll was an early settler in Washington Township,
settling there in the early 1860's "with sons Frank and John Carroll."
