Ted,
If one does a search for a surname on the site, will it include these
new pages?
Thanks,
Juli

Not that I know. Steven was married in Bond County in 1847.

Try Sarah Sum, that is how the State records has it. However, I think that
it is possible misspelled.

I am seeking information on Steven Mills. Accoring to the 'Illinois
State Archives', he purchased land in Bond Country. The records show Mills,
Steven purchased 45.64 acres @1.25 on 10/08/1847. It was a federal type
sale. This is from volume 326, page 054. Steven Mills married Sarha Sum
(Gum?) on 09/23/1847 in Bond county. I am looking for any other information
on Steven and Sarah. The States Death Records start at 1916, so are of no
use here. I have found Steven Mills in the 1840 US Census age 3
Jim: I lost your e-mail address thru overzealous deletion. I have the
information on the Jesse Gum family. Please contact me privately.

Any relationship to Orville Emory Mills (1888-1947) who married Mabel Louisa
Hicks (1895-1972)?

I was recently in the Bond County Clerk's office to look at their death records and they would only let me see the index. I couldn't look at the records to see if it was the person I was searching for. I have been in many County Clerk office's in other states and also in Illinois and have not run into this problem. What's up with Bond County?
Jim, I looked at the census yesterday. Ike and Commodore were sons of
Commodore Mills. The 1920 census was pretty blurred. I will look again
later as to where Commodore Sr.'s parents were from and see if I can find his
wife's name. The Ike Mills that I knew had three boys, Wayne, Jim and Dale,
and would all be in their late 60's or early 70's.
I will be back later today or tomorrow.
Norma, Golden, CO
Hello! Not sure who Ike and Nita Mills are. Here is how I am related to
Steven Mills. My Father was Orville Mills from Taylorville, IL. My
grandfather was George Mills also from Taylorville, IL. My
great-grandfather was Ezekiel Mills from
Greenville area. Ezekiel father was Steven Mills and Sarah Gum. I can not
find alot of information on Steven and Sarah Mills. Could be relation of
Ike Mills. Do you know if Ike had bothers in the area?
Thanks,
Jim Mills

Jim, maybe you are from this family but I grew up in Greenville. The family
that I knew was Ike & Nita Mills and they had three boys. (I think one was
Jim.) Have you looked on the 1920 census that is indexed on Ancestry.com? I
will if you don't have it. Excuse me if you are the "Jim" from this family
as you know more than I do.
Norma
Commodore Mills, Jr. or Sr. Sorry I don't know. I do have that Norma
Weiss's parents are Fred Weiss b. 1884 and d. 1975 md. 1908 to Alena
Wilhelmina Beinecke b. 1891 d. 1947. Maybe those dates will help establish
Jr. or Sr.
The Bond County marriage records does list her name as Sarah Gum.
