I've "rescued" an old letter addressed to Mrs. Phil LAMPERT of Belvidere,
Illinois dated November 23, 1893 though the post mark is Nov 23 1892. The
letter is from Nell of Lanark, Illinois. Nell mentions her husband Wilbur
but the letter doesn't include their last name. The envelope has a law
firms return address in Lanark, IL, however it appears to have been borrowed
from the law offices.
I'm hoping to find someone from the LAMPERT family or someone who can
identify Wilbur & Nell of Lanark, IL so that t

Hello -
Am researching the surnames Gough and Smith from the Belvidere area.
They would initially have arrived around 1870 or so. I can provide
more info if needed.
Thanks for any replies.

Thank you, Dan, for this information. Some time ago I found an 1850 Boone
County census entry for Edward and Eliza Cortright. Since their daughter
wasn't listed, I kept looking and finally found James S. and Eliza Kortright
living in Erie County, OH in 1850 with daughter Mary Josephine.
I remember how few gravestones there were in Orth Cemetery. Some may be
missing, but no doubt some graves never had markers. Among the Gilberts I
was trying to find was David Gilbert, the son of David Y. Gilbert who is

Does anyone have access to an index for the 1860 census for Boone County? I am looking for any information on Hannah and/or Lucinda Babcock, who may or may not be listed as a head of the household. I find both of them in 1870 living the home of James Kortright in Belvidere. If anyone can provide names of any Babcocks in the 1860 census along with page numbers, I would be very appreciative. Thanks!
Christine
What did I miss here? What was the original message for Lampert?
A message was in my Missing Links newsletter regarding
a letter sent to a Lambert in Belvidere from Lanark.
