I believe I know the white cross which you are referring to, along the
Breese/Germantown Road. As I remember, my mother referred to the influenza outbreak,
and their prayers were answered, and the family erected the cross.

I`m searching for obituaries of Arthur Haumesser
b. 11. Dec 1897 - d 10. Jun 1936 St Josephs Hospital,
Bresse and his wife Rosa Brandt b. 20. Jan 1884 - 14. Dec 1959 R1 Carlyle.
Arthur was the son of Frederick (Fritz) Haumesser and Annie Schneider of
Wade, Clinton , Illinois
Arthur and Rosa married about 1928 and are both burried in
Carlyle City Cemetery.
Any information utmost appreciated.
