Question.......I understood that if one wanted an Illinois death certificate
for someone who died after 1910, all one had to do was to write for it and it
wouldn't cost anything. One didn't need to send a SASE either. One must
request this from the Archives in Springfield, IL. I was under the
impression it would take less than month to receive the certificate. Is this
true? Can someone answer me?...............MaHarvLady@aol.com
Does anyone know where the closest Jeffersonville, IL was to Clinton County
in 1865??? I've found Jeffersonville, Morgan County...but was there one in

Sorry to be a bother, but is it possible to send the data on the Weshinskeys
as a file, attached to the email? It is confusing trying to read the data.
Thanks,

I was thinking of Jacksonville,,,,,so sorry. Could there have been a

Terrific sight about the fire that destroyed the 1890 census. And info on
items that are available at the NARAs in Washington, DC and in Chicago.
They talk about the 1893 pension records, we only have the 1883 pension data
on line.

I found this absolutely fascinating, and I think you will, too!

If possible, could you look up Bernard SCHLARMAN(N) (wife Eugenia [Albers]),
August FANGMEYER (d. 7/14/1921), Charles GISSEY (wife Clara [Schlarmann]), Henry
SCHLARMANN (wife Katherine [Aug]), J.H. Bauer (wife Elizabeth [Schlarmann]) and
Charles J. SCHLARMANN (wife Mary [Fick])?
I know these are a lot of people to look up, so if you are restricted in time,
please just do the first three.
I sincerely appreciate your offering to help. It is a wonderful gift to those of
us searching! Thank you.

Thank you very much, this should give me enough to go back to
the microfilm and decipher the letters. I think that the one
that was giving me the most trouble was Lawrence. I should
be able to go back now and figure out what the enumerator wrote
(he is usually phonetic). I appreciate your help very much.

Here's an ad worth two free weeks at Ancestry. Looks like you have to sort
of sign up for membership now, but you can cancel that tentative membership
at the end of your two weeks trial and owe nothing. (If you're organized
enough to remember to do it - not like I sometimes do.) Be sure to check
out the PERSI - Periodicals and ???. Several people have found lovely
things there. Tell us if the periodicals are around here, and I'll browse
if I can.

Lots of free look-up services offered for other locations. Looks useful.

I am currently in the process of transcribing the 1920 Clinton County
Federal census. This is a big project and may take awhile to complete.
As each township is finished, it will be proofread and uploaded so
anyone can search for themselves.
While the project is on-going I am willing to do lookups on families
living in the township currently being transcribed. At this time, I am
working on Breese township. So if anyone wants a lookup on a Breese
resident, please provide a first AND last name and I will
I have exhausted all the online information at the Clinton County site
looking for references to this name. If anyone has any information outside
of what is located on the site, I would be most grateful to receive it. The
time span encompassed in Clinton County would have been late 1830's thru
early 1920's. Thanks! Laura
Got this from another List. Makes sense. And makes a lot of work to
clean-up my databases before I send them onward. Do you-all agree with him?

Hi Dorothy, I loved that letter from West Konsin! Where is East Konsin? My
grandmother told a similar tale of her grandparents traveling from Prussia to
Wisconsin, with a twist. All of their belongings went into the New York
harbor when someone threw the pillowcase that contained everything they owned
ashore, but it didn't quite make land!! Can you imagine? Even the relatives'
address was lost, so they didn't even know where to go. They joined up with a
lady who invited them to go to Wisconsin with h

This is my experience with the Illinois State Archives and death

If you write by smail address it to:

I have received 10 or more copies from the State Archives. There is no
charge for unofficial and uncertified reproductions. In my request, I ask
for unofficial copies. The list the Archives uses, is alphabetical by last
name. It includes date of death, county of death, city or township,

Here is the info I have found so far on the Timmermann(s). There
are 4 different households at this point. I will keep the name on
my list and let you know as I find more.
The first part of this listing is the column header for the 1920
census. As near as I can tell the "Fm" in the House # column
refers to "Farm". Sometimes the enumerator used "un" for unknown.
An * means the character was unreadable on this copy of the census.

lived in Wamac, IL and had 9 children. Herman was a coal miner. They both
died early. Herman was believed to be poisoned. Herman was born 11-9-1857
died 6-14-1913 Henreitta Weber was born 10-13-1859 and she died 4-15-1907 .
They had 9 children: Herman JR., John, Fred, William, Walter , Harry, Anna

I found a few more Timmermann(s) while scanning thru the microfilm
for other lookups. When I get to the other townships, I'll try to
look for more.
The transcription is being done as a spreadsheet so it looks a
little odd when compacted down to fit in an email. To make it
fit, each column is separated by a comma instead of tabs/spaces.

Anyone out there have information on the Mensing families in Clinton or
Washington Counties?
Thanks to some research at St. Boniface in Germantown, I have found my
GG-Mary Schoo (who married Henry Baumhueter of Clinton County) was the
daughter of John Schoo and Anna MENSING. There are no Schoo's that I can
find anywhere in Illinois, much less in Clinton county; ergo, I think Mary's
link to Clinton is via the Mensing family of her mother Anna Mensing. Mary
was born in Hannover, Germany circa 1868, a
