I hope this isn't a duplicate message - hotmail is once again acting up. I
just wanted to thank Karen Rodde & Valentine for all the info on my gr

on how to access records about the property. It will make the property
easier to find when I come down there. Thanks a bunch.

Hi!
Thanks much for the reply!
I appreciate all the info you sent as to possibilities
for the school, as well as some of the names -
especially since I mistranscribed both LOCKE and
GANZHORNE....
The teacher was my g-grandmother - Sarah LEITCH or
Sarah CREWS. (She was married a 2nd time to Albert
CREWS, but I don't know if she was using the CREWS
anme or LEITCH at that time.)
She was living with her daughter's family at the time
in Glen Ellyn - John and Marian WOZENCRAFT.
Thanks, again!

Hello Listers,
I need help with locating a family (my great uncle) farm on 57th St.,
Westmont. That's the only address in the 1950 & 1955 Chicago area
directories for Edward & Jennie Tollar. No house number or any other
designation is given. A distant relative of Jennie's believed that might
have lived on a farm. Parameters: between the 1930 census (when they were
in Chicago) & 1960 (Edward's death).
Where can I find out the location of the farm without an address? Is it
possible to find out w
Hi, all!
I'm trying to identify the elementary school class
that is shown in an old photo that I have. I think it
was my great-grandmother's class (she was the
teacher). On the back is a listing of the children,
and a lot of them were born about 1912, so I'm
thinking the photo is the early 1920s.
The 1920 census reflects that the children are living
in Milton Twp, DuPage Co., IL and live on Kenilworth
Ave., 480 Western Ave., Glenwood Pennsylvania Ave.,
and Prospect Ave., etc.
Anyone have any idea wh
The street names would indicate that the school is in Glen Ellyn, and
Glen Ellyn is in Milton Township. I lived at 416 Western Avenue in Wheaton
in the 20s, (in Milton Township), and I don't think the street went up as
high as 480. It was just two blocks long and we lived right in the middle
of it. There was a Western Avenue in Glen Ellyn, and the other streets look
like Glen Ellyn, not Wheaton. My brother-in-law lived on Kenilworth in Glen
Ellyn. His name was Miller. He was born in 1921. He had an
Photo could be taken at Forest Glen which was on N Main St. Or Hawthorne
school which closer to the down town area. Some of those streets are on
the north side of the tracks and some are on the south side. My husband,
who was born and raised in Glen Ellyn, recognized several of the
names--Dick GANZHORNE and Philip LOCKE, who became a county judge. There
were 5 grade schools in Glen Ellyn, Forest Glen and Hawthorne-on the
north side, Main St and Benjamin on the south side, and on the far south
side, across R

Hi, Chris,
I'd be interested in anything you find. I had come across something about Walter Sabin
being a town officer, but darned if I can figure out where I saw it! Frustrating!
John Sabin I had found early in my DuPage County research and, at that time felt pretty
sure of how he was related to my Sabins. I'd have to dig through my notes to find out how
I came to that conclusion. He would have been a cousin, but I'm not sure that they every
knew each other prior to migrating west. The Sabins al
