The Historical Society in Edwards County has a publication that lists names
in the death record books on file in the courthouse. Although some of the
names over time apparently have not made it through the copier at the bottom of
the columns...(my great grandmother was one of these...LOL) ...it is a fairly
complete list of names.
The staff at the courthouse are wonderfully helpful about sending copies of
death certs for those of us who live a distance away and there are members of

Eldon,
I don't have the 1855 census, but this is the way John Young's family looked
in the 1850 and the 1860 census.

Dear Fellow Researchers:
I am wondering if there is any located in Edwards Co. that would be able to
take some photos of some markers for me in the Moravian Cemetery.
I am hoping to obtain photos of the following:
Elizabeth Rachel (Painter) Sanders
d. Oct 17 1870
Block 2 Row 5 Grave #6
Her husband, William might be buried next to her. He died in 1910.
Also, her parents might be close by:
Daniel Painter/Panter d. April 1885 Mary Panter died 1875.
I would be happy to reimburse any expenses.

If anyone has the 1855 census for Clay Co I would very much appreciate a
lookup for a William YOUNG.
William was b. abt. 1791 KY and is last found in 1850 Edwards Co IL. Some
of his descendants are later found in Clay Co so maybe he is in Clay Co in
1855.
Thank you for any assistance you may provide.

Howdy List Members,
Below is an abstract from the Secretary of State's site. Does anyone know
if any 1845 census records for Edwards Co have survived?
I am looking for a William YOUNG.
Thank you,
Eldon
"State censuses were taken in 1820, 1825, 1830, 1835, 1840, 1845, 1855, and
1865. Unfortunately only the 1820, 1855, and 1865 ones have survived
reasonably intact. Most of the county returns for 1825, 1830, 1835, and 1845
are missing and nearly half of the 1840 state census has been lost."
If anyone has this book I would appreciate a lookup for a William YOUNG.
This particular William YOUNG was b. abt. 1792 KY and is found in White Co
in 1830 and Edwards Co 1835-1850s.
Thank you,
Eldon
Dear Fellow Researchers:
I am hoping to locate information on the family of Daniel (J. or Z.) Panter
or Painter that was born about 1815 in North Carolina.
I located Daniel and his wife Mary, b. about 1804 in Forsyth Co., NC on the

His daughter, Elizabeth Rachel b. about 1841married William Cornelius
Sanders in 1858 in Bartholomew Co., IN.
In 1870 William Sanders had moved to Edwards Co., IL.
Elizabeth Rachel died between 1870 & 1880 in Edwar
