Hello listers,
I recently posted on the list that I was looking for a school. Well, I
found my own answer thanks to Yahoo.com The school I thought I was looking for
turns out not even to be a school. HAHAHA I am very new to research so I
thought it was a name of a Catholic School. Well, low and behold it is a
disease that they had at the time of the Census. It is called St. Vitus's
Dance. It is a form of Chorea. Boy, I really feel stupid now. But, I thought I
would share my blunder with the rest of you.
Hello Listers,
I would like to say hello to everyone and list my Surnames. I am currently
researching Turner/Shaw lines from Ford County. They were located mainly
around Paxton. And dates range from 1869-present.
Have a Great week!

Hello listers,
I am trying to find out if such a school existed. The name would have been
St. Birtus or St. Virtus, something of that sort. According to the 1880 Census
that is where two of my relatives where and were unaccountable for the Census.
But, I can not make out the writing from the Census taker. Any ideas???

I am looking for information on a an Ashline family from Kankakee also.
Rushie (?) Ashline married my great-grandfather. She had a son and a
daughter Lloyd and Marie.
I am not sure of her first name but it sounded like Raushie and she may have
been part Indian and part French.
I would like to know whom the father of her kids may have been. In 1920

Just "passing through", the Colton family moved from Michigan to
Illinois around 1870, eventually settling in McHenry County. I may have
found them in a census index for 1870, but need to know the full listing
to verify. If someone has access to the 1870 census for Iroquois
County, Ash Grove Township, the index indicates that they can be found
on page 218. The head of household name is MORGAN COLTON.
Thank you for any help you can give,

Several months ago, I requested and received a marriage record for my
grandparents from the IL Archives. I thought that this was all that was
available. Today on the gen-newbie list, another person mentioned doing the
same, then sending to the county for the license which had more information.
If this is true, to whom do I write? My grandparents were married on May 21,
1882, in Ford Co. Now I see on the register that the date of the license was
May 16, 1882. The number of the license is 658. Th
I am searching for info on the Newell family.
They lived in Beaverville, IL I beleive in 1892 through possibly 1904.
My G Grandfather Omer Newell was born in Beaverville in 1892.
I know that my GG Grandfather born 1858, John Newell, married my GG
Grandmother Emma Snow, born 1861.
I think they married in the 1870's in Kankakee County.
My G Grandfather's siblings, that I know of, are:
Jeremiah (Jerry) Newell born Jan 29, 1881-Sept 23, 1972-he served in WWI
PVT 140 Infantry
Grace Newell born 1906-1971-had one
Hi Colette! When I requested marriage information directly from Ford
County, I received the marriage license and the application for marriage.
In several instances, I have received a copy of the father's approval that
his underage daughter could marry (in his handwriting) and in another case
they included a copy of the judge's note saying he forgot to record his last
marriage and had forgotten the groom's name although he remembered the bride
and her father (thank goodness!) The marriage license is the do
Hello all!
I am looking for information on my great grandmother Nellie Florence Barnet Felton. She died on 10/4/1914 in the Kankakee State Hospital. Which is now The Shapiro Development Center. She was born in Milwaukee, WI in 1865/66. I am trying to find her parents, and siblings. I have a death certificate. However it doesn't list any family members. The hospital says there was a fire in 1950 so all previous info is gone. Would appreciate any help trying to locate this woman and her parents.

I have a great grandfather who lived in Crystal Lake, Illinois by the name of John Heinrich Buehler.
His first marriage was to a Christina Peters in 1875 in Crystal Lake. She died in 1920.
John, at an old age, married a Mary Weise from Kankakee, Illinois and that date of marriage must be sometime between 1920 and Feb. 1927 when John died in Crystal Lake.

I don't have any information on the Schoons but just wanted to let you know
that Mary Bouhle's married name should be Bouhl. My grandmother was a Bouhl
and Mary was married to one of her brothers.

Hi Everyone...
I've found the final resting place and the burial dates of several of my
elusive MARTIN family and my TREMBLAY/TROMBLEY family...
It appears that my MARTIN's moved west in about 1890 to Vancouver,
Washington... My maternal Great, Great Grandfather Joseph MARTIN and his
wife Julie LANDRY MARTIN appear to have taken all but one child with them to
the west... this being my mggranmother Anna Marie MARTIN TREMBLAY who
married Maurice TREMBLAY in Cloud County...
Below are some of the dates...
Today I visited the Thawville cemetery and found my gr-grandmother
Isabella BARROW BENTLEY 1844-1918. She is buried with Elizabeth B.
PEARSON (her daughter?) 1865-1912 and George PEARSON 1852-1949. Next to
them is buried George PEARSON, 2/2/1899-10/3/1975, marine in WWI and a 2
yr old PEARSON who I took to be his son.
If any of the PEARSON or BENTLEY descendents are still in the area, I
would love to exchange information with them or anyone else who may have
even a scrap of information. I am descended
I had relatives in from California last week and we went out to the cemetery
in L'Erable....found the headstone of John and Angel St. John, who are our
gr gr grandparents. There seem to be new doors on the church and the
cemetery is kept up lovely. The headstone for the St. Johns was rather new
and I was just wondering if there are any other distance relatives out there
and if anyone knows who maintains the cemetery and church.
Does anyone know if the church is open any other time besides Sunday
morning?
