1. Re: [ILGALLAT-L] SHAWNEETOWN FLOODS?? [1]
Yes, 1898 was the second biggest flood, (maybe the third), when I understand many of the frame buildings in the town were destroyed when the levee broke. 1913 was another bad flood, and both led up to 1937, after which the town was moved to the current site of New Shawneetown. 4. Re: [ILGALLAT-L] SHAWNEETOWN FLOODS?? [1]
Thanks to all that have responded on the Shawneetown Floods question. Maybe someone knows if there are lists of casualties of the 1881, 1882, 1883, 1898, or 1913 floods. If a person was swept away in a flood, there may not be a grave. Thanks Dave

14. Re: [ILGALLAT-L] TOWNSHIP BOUNDRIES [1]
Topograpic maps are wonderful resources that show things like township boundries, cemeteries, back roads, geography, etc. It might take a little bit of research to find where to buy them, maybe someone else on the list can help. I have the 7.5 minute series for all of Hardin County, it takes 8 maps. The map names for Gallatin County would include: Saline Mines Shawneetown Karbers Ridge Equality On the Saline Mines and Karbers Ridge, the Gallatin/Hardin County line runs along the top part of the map,

16. [ILGALLAT-L] Hello [1]
Hello Does anyone know if there is a way to find a marriage after 1891 if only the bride's name is known? My great grandfather OWEN BOUTWELL died in 1891 and LEWIS BOUTWELL (my grandfather) was apparently left with his step-mother CELIA (LAMB) BOUTWELL along with two siblings PEARL and WILLIE BOUTWELL according to probate records. I haven't been able to find them after his death and possibly it is because she remarried. Any help is appreciated. Jody Boutwell Anderson Jodybell@swbell.net

Thanks to those who have responded about maps with Township Boundries. I have found a link that has a map program and maps you can download. http://www.census.gov/ftp/pub/geo/www/tiger/ >From there under Landview III, you click on Download software and sample data (for a county of your choice) >From there you follow the easy steps, make a folder, select a state, select a county, then download three files, the Landview III program (3 meg), county maps file, county data file.
