1. Callicut Cem Info and Galliten Cem book 2 link [1]
This person lives about 4 miles away from the cemetery and says you can find if you follow these directions. Callicot Cem. is located about 4 or 5 miles north of Shawneetown off of the Shawneetown New Haven Road. I don't have the name of the road it is located on but you turn right off the blacktop on Maloney road, go to the first gravel road and turn to left (about 1 or 1 1/2 miles), the go maybe a mile where you come to a T and make a left and you will see the cemetery in front of you. This is some hi

3. QExpress for Gallatin Co., Illinois ( COLBERT KANADY ) [1]
Surnames: COLBERT KANADY Submitter: Karen Kanady Miller (kkmwin@advancenet.net) Date: 10 Sep 2002 I made a previous inquiry about Nancy J. COLBERT KANADY. I have checked cemetery records and found she was the second wife of Garland KANADY, not Johnson KANADY as was reported elsewhere on the Gallatin County history website.

Karen -- It appears that your concern is with the 1905 biographical sketch of James T. Colbert which is made available by Jon Musgrave on the Gallatin County web site. It's a useful thing to be skeptical of the details in 19th century biographies, but I don't find anything substantially wrong with this one. John Johnson (commonly known as Johnson) Kanady (1804 - 1875) was one (the oldest) of four sons of Moses Kanady who all migrated to Gallatin County from Kentucky in the 1820s and 1830s. He married Mar

I have three Tanner step-children that moved from WV to Gallatin Co. around 1869 with my gg-grandfather, Henry Koster. Their Mother's name was Miss

The callicott cemetery is located about 4-6 miles east and maybe a mile north of Ridgway. I can get better directions, if you need them
8. Re: QExpress for Gallatin Co., Illinois ( COLBERT KANADY ) [1]
Nancy Jane Bruce (called Janice in the 1880 census) married Samuel E. Kanady in Gallatin County 1 April 1883. She was born in 1859 based on the 1880 and 1920 censuses. Samuel (1854 - 1919) was the son of Jesse Harrison Kanady and his second wife Nancy Jane Crawford, and the grandson of Moses Kanady. In the 1920 census Nancy Jane Bruce Kanady, widow, is living with her daughter Edith Hart in Dexter City, Stoddard, Missouri; but she is buried (1934) in Crawford Cemetery, Ridgway with her husband. 13. I found the original post re handbook!! Good Luck [1]
Hello, For the past year or so I've been editing a new Handbook of Gallatin County History. I'm getting close to sending it to the publisher, but I need some feedback from you fine folks on the Gallatin County mailing list. Basically, I need feedback to gauge the level of interest in the book itself, but also whether you demand a hardback book or a paperback. The big difference of course will be in price. The new Handbook of Gallatin County History is a compilation of mostly 19th and early 20th century so
14. Abneys [1]
My dad fondly remembers a Gertie Abney who helped his mother with the children and housework when dad was little. He continued to visit her until she died. She had a sister Molly who married a Brown, a sister Opal and a brother Otto. Gertie also had a son named Emery. Dad also remembers playing with Emery when they were both small. I'd be interested in any additional information on this Abney family, if anyone has it. Donna
