R, H, P, W, T, S, M,
I have more than one ancestor line passing through Greene Co., IL., but
those lines were joined together many years later and many states away.

Hi,
Thank you for making the Souvenir Edition to those of us with roots in
those countie; but live elsewhere. I would like to order one, also. I have a
history compliation that belonged to my father that was an 1876 edition that
was reprinted in 1976 for the nation's bicentennial. It is very much larger,
though (over 800 pages). God bless.

Sorry if you get this message more than once. Marty Crull has contributed
his huge obituary database, over 6,000 obits!
These are now online on the Jersey County GenWeb page under "Jersey County
Obituaries." While almost all of the obits have a Jersey County
connection, there are a fairly large number of entries for Greene and
Madison counties. Also Macoupin and Calhoun. Some are also people who moved
and later died elsewhere in Illinois.
Marty's database did not have any entries for surnames beginning w
list won't take attachments. I'll get them off to you later.

I'm swamped with requests and it is going to take hours and hours to do the ones I have remaining.
I appreciate all of you wanting copies of these indexes/indices but you've covered me up.
As of 1 p.m. I'll delete any mail coming in wanting indexes.
Sorry, but I need to empty the inbox.
So far in just a little less than 24 hours, I've had over 100 requests for these indexes.
Where were all of you when I needed typing done? ;-)
Thanks
Marty

Marty, will you please send me the "H"s from both of the above. Thanks.

For those of you who tried to use the Search Engine on the Morgan Area
Greene/Scott county page during the past several days and found that it
wasn't working, I've discovered the problem and fixed same. It should be
working fine now.

My Winns were in Carrollton but had moved to White Hall by then,
but maybe there will be some of the aunts and uncles still living
there. I'm interested in the W's. Thanks!

Marty I would like a copy as well. We can figure out something. Thanks

Marty,
Include me also for the book. My mother's family and ancestors all came from Greene County. Let me know the details of payment.

I should have been more exact about the scanned index (s).
These are in PDF Adobe Format and they are 200 to 400 k in size, and no I am not going to spend all that time to change them into something smaller. This is what I use.
Also if you agree to the PDF format, I'd appreciate it if you would only ask for those exact indexes/indices that you really want. (Like Carrollton, H and R or Calhoun A and B's) This way it will go a lot faster and I can continue to scan other materials.
Thanks
Marty
The books are $9 plus $3 for postage; the cd rom is $10 and includes
postage.

I just received the okay from Eileen Cunningham, author of the Patriot

I would also be interested in receiving a copy for whatever the cost would

are interested before committing to sending any.

Wanted to thank Marty for showing me that the IL-Greene Co. List is still being read actively. He's swamped with requests...but all those requests are from people who read this list at least weekly. This county has always been the most helpful and informative--thanks to all. Susan RENO LeBlanc (WA state)
I need help determining a books date I got today in the mail.
The book is The Jersey County Farm Directory and it has NO DATES ANY WHERE in among the 24 pages.
It was sent, with only a 3 cent stamp, when it was originally mailed; the phone numbers are all, like, "Phone 154R or Phone 489R and all the ads are mostly of older type vehicles and tractors. One hint is the Ford Motor Company in Jerseyville is listed as being there for only 24 years.
Yes, I called the motor company in Jerseyville and they said to
Please describe the Patriot Souvenir Edition--the years, and a little about
the content so those of us who don't know what this is can perhaps join in.

Marty:
Would you please send me via e-mail the index for Carrollton and for Jersey.
Thank you very much.
Lois
P.S. Maybe it would just be easier to e-mail this to the list, then you
won't have to answer individual requests???

I've just become aware after a weeks work of preserving a book, that someone has already transcribed the entire book. I've spent a whole week for not!
Please if you already have a book or a document about any of the three counties already done, please let me know so I won't have myself or Lord forbid, have one of you doing the same thing over.
You don't have to give me a copy or donate a copy to any one, but please think about how much time it takes.

I am scanning the original copy of the reproduction of The Souvenir from 1896, September, by Eileen Smith Cunningham.
I am doing it in pdf format because it is the only thing I've found to make sense of the different formats needed to copy it without distortion. I am using Omni Page version 12 and I think it is excellent.
Of course this is about Greene County 1896, but I wanted to offer it to whomever wants a copy but I cannot charge for it because I do not own it, but I cannot give it away either because
