Hello All,
My mother, Virginia Stinson Watts, died recently at my home. Her obituary can be found temporarily on http://legacy.com/Legacy.asp
She was born and raised in Dahlgren, IL.
Hopefully, in a month or so, I will be able to work on the "Yesterdays of Hamilton Co., IL". I have received a lot of information and apologize for taking so long to get it posted to the site. This has been a very sad time for me.

I've completed the transcription of the 1865 state census for Hamilton
County and posted it on the HCI USGenWeb site ...
http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilhamilt/cen1865/index.htm

took during visits to the IL State Archives. I will hopefully get the
digital images uploaded and linked soon. Like the 1855 census, the 1865
census only lists the head of the household and household person counts, but
it is still a good tool for researching

My GGGF Henry O'Neil left Cocke Co, TN and arrived at Knights Prairie,
Hamilton Co somewhere after 1856 but before 1860. In the 1860 Hamilton Co census
the conscientious census taker listed him as Henry O. Neal and thus we have
been that since.
I am aware that there are several Hamilton Co families that came from Cocke
Co., TN. Apparently Dungy was one of them according to some Cocke Co list
information. I would like to identify other families and try to get an idea of
why they came to Hamilt
