Can any of you Pope or Hardin County folks shed some light on
this? The lady is not subbed to the list so please reply
to her in private............but cc it to the list if you will.
I'm certainly curious. I've never heard of this cemetery.

You may have already received an answer to your question about Pisgah Church.
It is in now in Gallatin County. Hardin County (a part of it) was taken
from Gallatin Co.
and there has been questions if the church was always located in the place it
is now. Since I have moved away, a new church has been built. It is
probably modern. The old church had two out-side toilets, and had printed on
the doors, Maggie and Jiggs. the cartoon characters. I'm 73, and that was
many years ago. Wanda (Patton) Ree
I have copied the records that you have of the Pisgah church. I was always
told that the church that I was talking about replaced one that was closer to
what is now the Hardin County Line. Shirley, I don't know where I found that
or who told me. That was some time ago, you know. The new church was built
after I left home, (1947) and always missed seeing the out-side toilets when
going home on a visit.
Have you talked to Libby? She sent me pictures of some of the Blacks in my

Hi, Everyone!
Is anyone going to the Oxford-Gross Homecoming next Sunday afternoon at
Elizabethtown? Would love to meet some of you.
I noticed that whoever wrote the Pisgah Church records was very bad with
spelling.

Shirley - I did not find any Black's on your webpage. I have some interest
in the Black family as George Washington Black (son of John) married Mary
Louisa/Elizabeth Dutton daughter of Irena Brasier. I think Irena was a
daughter of my William Brasher of Gallatin County.

Hi Lisa,
According to the "Cemetery Compilation of Hardin
County," there is a Hubbs Cemetery located in
Rosiclare. There are four gravestones:
Hubbs, W.W. Feb. 13 1839 - May 11, 1914
Hubbs, Elizabeth, wife of W.W. Hubbs, died July 16,
1889, age 48 years 1 month 9 days.
Hubbs, Francis M., 1860 - 1929
Hubbs, Ricks H., 1860 - 1947 (same stone as above)
Cochran, George W., 1877 - 1909
There are other Hubbs in other cemeteries in Hardin
County. In the Vinyard #1 (Monroe), there is a stone

Lisa, I checked my files and don't have a Barnard or Zadock. I do have a
Hubbs, but doesn't seem to fit your line. The following was in my notes
from Bob Black:
"Dave married Anna Hubbs. They had a son named Clyde and dau. named Mae.
Anna died and Clyde and Mae lived with their grandmother Emma Hubbs. Anna
Hubbs was a sister to Charley Hubbs. Mae married a Brinkley."
Anna's father was John R. and mother was Emily Jackson.
I have no dates for these..... does this make sense to you? (it was the

I was in Elizabethtown Easter weekend and stayed at the "Rose Wood Inn" (I
think that is the name, It is Rose something). It is an old mansion that
they have made into a bed and breakfast.
The house is furnished with antiques and the breakfast was very good. It
is definitely the best accommodations I have had in Southern IL. And I am
from Southern IL.
If you have an interest in the Oxford family, I have a lot of info on them
on my web site. The World connect site is the best one.

Thank you John for the link to the Pisgah Church records! You'll never know
how much I appreciate it. I found Crabtree's and Davis' Family I've been
looking along time for.

I just found your Web page
on Hardin County
cemeteries. I notice there's a listing for a RAGAN Cemetery.
I have the location listed as: S 1/2 SE 1/4 Sec. 30, T 12 S, R 8 E. I do
have a map which shows where this Section 30 is. Just how large is a Section
anyway?
I'm planning a trip to Hardin County on the weekend of April 28th-30th. I
would like to locate this cemetery since I believe it is probably the place
where my 3g-grandparents are burie

Hi all,
Due to health and personal reasons I'm putting Hardin
County up for adoption.
I will maintain the county until I find the right person to
take on the task of coordinator for the county.
I'm looking for someone who preferably lives in the
county or has access to Hardin Co material and a strong
research interest in the county. A basic knowledge of
web page creation is also needed. Anyone interested
must also agree to abide by the USGenWeb Project and
ILGenWeb Project rules and guidelines.

Shirley,
Your document is the one I was referring to. I must give you many kudos and
thanks for posting your treasure trove of info. This is one thing I'm
holding onto fervently to connect my Jane Barnard to the other Barnards of
Gallatin & Greene Co.s IL and Sumner Co. TN as there are Zadock Barnards in
all those places and Jane names a son Zadock, Jane married a William W.
Hubbs. Hoping that rings a few bells out there.

Sue,
You may be looking for a ficticious cemetery. Some of the names and places in the book
were changed by the author to protect people. A good friend of mine was actually a
patient of the good Dr. and she knows many of the individuals in the book, however, by
their given names rather than their literary names. She also mentioned that some of the
names of places and businesses were changed.

Heehheheheehe,
Spelling is bad because it was copied down as it was written.
Re: George Washington Black..... Do you mean my "own" web site? If so, I am
still working on it. It has a long way to go.
Email me personally and I will give you what I have on Geo Washington Black.
OK?

Also, check out my web site at the GenWeb WorldConnect site. My Gedcom is
up on that site with all my surnames there.

Happy Easter everyone,
May I be under the asumption that the Pisgah Cumberland Presbyterian Church is (was) located in Hardin Co? I've found the church records on UsGenWeb archives and would like to know more about this place. I'm trying to connect my IL Barnard/Barnett line to the Zadock(numerous spellings) Barnards of Sumner Co. TN. Any help will be appreciated.

I know there is an upcoming Family Reunion for the Price's (last year several
other families were included). Does anyone know the date. I believe it is the
second Sunday in June which is the 10th, but cannot remember for sure. Thanks
Liesa, and hope to see some of you there.
I found a site with a list of books for sale for Illinois and Illinois
Counties. I found some good stuff there.
