First, let me thank Karima, Carol, and Tom so much for being genealogy
"care givers". I used Tom's Gedcom file on Rootsweb to obtain
information on the Cutrell family. Rosie md. William S. Conaway 1891 in

My grandmother Catherine Sarah Conaway was William's sister born Jan

I still am looking for a marriage record of ZELMA ELLEN PHILLIPS &
GEORGE RILEY CARTER. Probably in Hurst, IL (Williamson County)
Sometime beteem 1920-1926. It a brick wall. Someplace this exsists, because
my Mother, Zelma, got a marriage record someplace, so she could draw a
pension after my Father died Mar. 2, 1947 at the VA Hospital in Marion, IL IF you
find anything let me know.

Carol,
The only Evans I have listed in the 1844-1906 death index is Logan Thomas
Evans. There is no date of death given for him but indicates he is listed
in Death Register #1. These registers should be located in Jackson County.
The 1904-1915 index shows the following people named Evans:
Fred Evans, died 11/25/1908
Oscar Evans, died 4/22/1914
William Evans, died 3/30/1911
If any of these are of interest, let me know. The 1904-1915 index gives
much more information about the deceased including in

Hello Juli! Thank you for the suggestions! I do have Jackson Neace's
pension info and it does have all of his children listed. Sarah Jane is
not listed, so that is another reason I don't believe she is his
daughter. I tried to locate the 1865 military census, but did not find
it online. I guess I can probably order it from somewhere, so will try
that later. I have not yet ordered probate info for Elias Neace,
Elisabeth Wheat or Vincent Wheat. I had forgotten that there would
probably be a guardianshi
Hello all,
I wondered if anyone had information on how best to protect a lock of
hair? Perhaps this isn't a genealogy question, but I have a lock of
my great-grandfather's hair that my great-grandmother cut right after
he died. He was 28 years old when he died in 1907. The lock of hair
along with a 1907 nickel were kept together in an envelope. I'd like
to find a way to protect the hair which appears to be in good shape,
although I'm not sure if the color has been shaded by time and
chemicals fr
I have a listing for Short Cemetery, it was only a short walk from my
grandparents house after they moved to Percy.
Eli Short's dates are 1772 to 1846, there is no other Eli or Elisha
(or variation thereof) found in the cemetery to my knowledge.

Mary,
By any chance is there a listing of Elijah Adams or Eliza Adams in the death
index? Elijah would have died after 1882 and Eliza sometime before.

Speaking of old photos and mementos. Does everyone know that you can go to
www.ebay.com and search for things like "Murphysboro" and "Carbondale"
(actually any town name) and also "Jackson Co., IL" and they will list the
documents for sale on their website. There are currently over 20 things
listed for Murphysboro and many more listed under the Jackson County search
request. They include pictures, publications, etc. Just thought I would
let everyone know.

Hello all,
My interests are the ARNDT, BEHNKEN, BRADLEY, LOY, RUSSELL and
associated families in Jackson, Randolph and Perry Counties. My
Jackson County families primarily lived in Bradley Township with some
settling near Murphysboro. I have quite a bit of information on
these and associated families. Be sure to check my web site at

I'm also available to do lookups (full name, not surname only pls) in

Janis,
I do not know if is the military census but the 1855 and 1865 Illinois State Census are available through the Illinois State Archives. There are several counties together and the cost was $20.00 per roll. I have looked at both at the library in Mt Vernon, Illinois. Some of the counties are very hard to read if you can read them at all. They only list the families by numbers and age groups not individual names. What each IRAD has is on line at the Illinois Archives site. I was there last week and aga

Hi Mary,
Could you check to see if you have a listing for:
Joseph Pierce RAYNOR d. abt 1887

If you setup a profile on EBay you can also setup a "favorites" list
and it will email you anytime a new item comes up with your
keyword. I use this and get any items with the words "Willisville"
or "Campbell Hill" in them. Of course an entry like "Jackson County"
will get you a lot of hits and you'll have to sort through the
various states so you need to think about which ones you want to use
and how you set it up.
