You might check some of the court records, as back then most of the ones
sent to Anna State Hospital, had to go before a Judge, so there would be a
record.
Hi Michelle,
Thanks for replying so quickly.
Appreciate the suggestion to check the state hospital in Anna. (no offense
was taken!) . Do you know if there is an online listing any where?. Would a
census have been taken at the hospital for 1920 ? When Charles Warfield
died in 1966 -still in Mt. Vernon- he had been in a nursing home for about 4
years. His sons both went to Davenport, Iowa (sometime) and died there.
One of his daughter in laws gave the info for his death certificate- .I just
looked at cop
Phyllis,
I subscribe to the Images On Line from Ancestry.com, and I do not find a
Zachary Taylor Moore listed in the 1900 census for the Anna State Hospital.
The very lower portion of these sheets are unreadable however, and I could
of missed him, but I would say there is a 90% or beter chance that he was
not in the hospital at this time. The 1920 census is indexed for Union
county and he was not in this census either. Good luck.

Hi Evalyn,
I don't think there is an online listing. We had to actually go to the
facility to get our information. What a good question about the census
records! I'll have to check it out and if I find that they are listed in the
census records, I'll let you know.
Thanks,
Michelle

I knew of 3 people that
were sent to Anna Hospital, could not find 1 single
record of them ever being there, or 2 of them died
and are buried there.
I went to Wayne Co and checked records and BINGO! I
found all 3. At least I have it documented that 3
people were sent there, why, date, and a little more
In August, 1966 there was a funeral home called Pulley Funeral Home. At that time, Donald E. Reid was Funeral Director and address given under his name was 1313 Main St. Mt. Vernon. IL
Does anyone know if it still exists, or if it is in business under another name, or not there any more. Does anyone know where their records for that month might be.?
Would someone be able to tell me who was living at 313 Bell Street - in August 1966. Was it Charles W. Warfield residence or address of the Lowry Nursing
South Hickory Hill Cemetery now has pictures linked to the listing. That
will probably be about all of them maybe one more, until warmer weather gets

Was your Mary Jane the one married to Matthew Hawkins? If so she is MY great
grandmother. I have some info on her, but would like to share anything we
have.

Hi Evalyn,
No, the census doesn't list addresses. It was taken July 29, 1920 by Hosea
V. Smith. Usually a WD in the marriage field means widowed. What I found
interesting was that there was no WD next to Charles' name, only an M for
married. Maybe they were separated or [I don't mean anything bad by this!]
you might want to check the records from the state hospital in Anna.
Sometimes people were admitted there and they never seemed to come back out.

Hi Michelle,
I am curious what kind of info you found at Anna. My grandmother's brother,
Zachary Taylor Moore, was listed in the 1870 census with his brother William,
with a notation "insane, at Jacksonville". May 2 1876 in Hamilton Co. he was
judged insane by a jury and "fit subject to be co

Would some one please look for this family.

Alice (Smith) Rainey b. ca 1860 IN.
Also would like to know names of any other persons living in the household.
In 1920- Alice Rainey is living in household with Charles Warfield and is listed as a widow.
Thanks for your help.
