Yes, I posted the original request for names of families on the wagon train. Here's what I have:
Rhody Allen and William Maxey organized a wagon train from Sumner Co., TN in 1818 to Jefferson Co., IL. There were forty-one families. This came from family notes and Jefferson County, IL History Books.
Here's who I have

The above surnames appear, on some slivers of evidence, to have emigrated from Sumner County, Tenn. in the early 1810's or 20's or 30's to Jefferson County, Ill. Anybody out there?
Love, Jer

I was wondering if anyone on the list can tell me anything about
either a Green Family Reunion or an Olomon/Knapp one. The last reunion I
attended was Olomon and that was 50 yrs ago....
Would very much like to hear from anyone who attended....Olomon was usually
the 2nd Sunday in August.

I sent basically the same message to both Sumner & Jefferson Counties re:
King, Owens, Overbay, etc. Below are responses from Jeff. County. I could
not find the wagon train information on the Marion County, Ill. Genweb site.
Please, Donna Davis, would you give me more specific directions.?
Thank you for your information, Kathleen & yes I would appreciate the Sumner

John Lowry was born in October, 1758 in Virginia. His will written in
Hamilton Co., 24 June, 1848 mentions his wife Elizabeth, sons Reason R.,
John, David, Light W. and Young S., plus daughter Dorcus Taylor. He also
mentions children by his first wife, but doesn't name them. I had no luck
finding the name of his first wife until a few months ago when another Lowry
researcher mentioned that there was an error in the Rowan Co., N.C. marriage

Hi everyone,
I have a question, that I hope somebody can answer for me.
Is there such a thing called a Land Abstract, and if there is how would somebody obtain a copy of a certain section of land.
Thank you, Christene
Go to the Jefferson County, IL site and look at the
Biography of William Maxey and James Johnson. Also
look at "Facts and Folks of Jefferson County".
Also, I posted a list of people I knew about from
family notes and a bio on Rhody Allen that talked
about the wagon train. This was an unusually large
wagon train; 41 families is over 100 people.
They crossed over the Ohio River at Cave-in-the-Rock.

Rhody Allen was a circuit minister. His circuit took
him to many places, farther and farther west.
It was certainly easier to go to a place where someone
was already waiting.
The wagon train members first settled in Moore's
Praire. Many had bounty warrants from service in the
War of 1812, that they claimed there.

You can get the Prisoners to clean up cemeteries which is a great idea but
you have to
1. Put in the request
2. Provide ALL the tools for them to work with (no chainsaws)
3. Be there for them to know what needs done and they may only call you the
day before to let you know they are coming. I personally do not have that
free of a schedule to be able to go with a day's notice, but have been told
that they do excellent work.

My 2gr grandmother was Harriet Addison b. Jan 1842, m. Nathan Melton in
Franklin Co. Lived in Dodds township. Her father was Jonathan Addison, b.
abt 1794 in Madison Co. Ky. I think Lydia's grandfather was Richard
Addison, brother of Jonathan Addison, also born in Madison Co. Ky.

Connie,
Its very interesting that you should mention a Cook family because my Taylor
or else McMahon family children intermarried with Cooks in that part of the
country and my Taylors and Lowerys lived at Moore's Prairie after 1850 .
This is really getting in

James Atwood Allen, son of John Rhodam II and Lucinda
Pace Atwood, first married Elizabeth J. Taylor in
Jefferson Co., IL. They had four children: Two died at
birth, Norman C. Allen, and Fannie Allen. Elizabeth
died in 1873.
James Atwood Allen married again two years later to
Mary J. Sursa. They had three or five children (five
listed in the will).
Hope this helps.

Anything that is wrote....stones....death records...; are only as good as
the person who gave the information.
As far as restoring; there is a man who lives in Ina..named Robert Piercy
who does restoration of stones,he may be able to tell you about getting
permission to restore them, but I think you have to have permission of a
family member(correct me if Im wrong)to do any means of cleaning or
restoring.
May I comment the 13 yr old young lad who is interested enough in perserving
our heritage.
Good Evening,
I was wondering if anyone would mind to take a look at the 1880 Census for Jefferson County to see if Fred Frick ( Frieck) and Florence may be listed ?
Love,
Sue Mc.
Hi Christine,
I don't know if you hve gotten an answer yey, but here goes. It is actually
an abstract deed. It is used in title insurance, and is a record of every
action taken on the tract of land since ther first records were kept. I sold
a place once, and the abstract from the time I inheireted it to when I sold
it was 365 pages. The title company charges by the page to run an abstract
of deed and it is an all or nothing venture. You either want an abstract or
you don't. no partials.
Hope this helps with
If I have my MAXEY's right, William MAXEY is the older brother of
my direct ancestor Hester MAXEY WILKEY. Hester was married
to Henry WILKEY (we are still trying to figure out his connections
back in Virginia/Georgia/...). Henry & Hester had Bennett, Carter, Richard,
and at least 4 daughters. Carter was the Huntsman for the Surveying
Expedition to what would become Jefferson County, IL in late 1815. He
stayed in the area (what would be called Moores Prairie Township)
and his mother (Henry had died by
