I have found the name of Enos Shaw as an early resident of Jo Daviess County.
He apparently came to Illinois in 1838 from Allegany County NY. He and his
wife had at least one child Matilda Shaw.
Enos wife's name was Sila Phippen. Does anyone have any information on Enos
and Sila. Especially other children. Thank you very much for your
assistance Frank Puzzledfrank@aol.com
Frank,
Go to the Jo Daviess County USGENWEB site at
http://users.rootsweb.com/~iljodavi/index.htm and scroll down to the
Pico Search. Type in Enos Shaw and click on the Search button. Your
will find 54 documents.
Some of my lines stopped in Allegany County, New York on their way west.
I thought it only fitting and proper to lend a helping hand.

I received a photocopy of a land grant document for 80 acres granted to Benjamin WILLIAMS, 1 July 1848 , at Dixon, IL. It was mistakenly enclosed with a copy for my ancestor, William W. MATTHEWS. I would be happy to send this to a descendant of Benjamin.

Luis George is the father of Sopha (Sophia) George and it also
shows a sister Eva. No mother is listed . Because of other relatives
listed in Hanover (Farwell) and they worked in the woolen Mill I
think there is a connection. If anyone has any further info on the
George's I would appreciate it.
