My husband's Hoffman family were from Massbach/Derinda and two of his aunts visited the family farm in 1910. I have two postcards sent to one of them from Ella B. Belk in 1911. One shows roses and the words "Greetings from Massbach, Ill." Henry Belk was also her father.

The cemetary in Hanover has a Large marker in the old section just of the road that goes by it for White. I believe this is for Chas. White. As I recall he was quite important in the late 1800's there. You could also search the site for JoDaviess country to see it your search is listed there,

The other fellow was correct. Wapello was the former name of Hanover. So would assume that is the precinct. Wapello was an indian chief, probably Sauk or Fox since they were the tribes of the region.

Thanks for the response. I believe the name of great great grandfather was Andrew Jackson Belk not Andew Wilson. There seems to have been a "thing" in the family for naming sons after presidents. My great grandfather was George Washington Belk and grandfather was Chester Arthor Belk.
