This may be an insane way to go about finding the music, but the
Galesburg, IL, Rotary Club has a song book with Rotary theme
songs......in 1972 they had one copyrighted by June Wyckoff. Some songs
are take-offs of old original music.
You may have luck contacting: ibrbn@hotmail.com who said "There are
many songs that were written with Rotary as their theme. Some have
original music. Some are sung to another familiar tune. I am in the
process of researching the source and history of these song

I didn't find "Spoon River Waltz," but a great place to find old sheet music,
among other interesting and historic things, is:

Scroll down to "Historic American Sheet Music."

I am trying to find the music for a piece entitled "Spoon River Waltz" . It
was written by Edwin Wyckoff. It was written I think in the late
1880's/90's. If anyone knows where I can find a copy of this music I would

Hi,
I got copies for . 50 each from Warren County Clerk, but I understand fees do
vary. Warren County did not show parents but the copies are great to have and
look at, if nothing else. The following info might help.

Is there someone who would do a lookup for me on Charles Clark. I find him on
the 1850 and 1860 IL census in Knox county. At this point I am looking for a
date of death and possibly an obit for him. On the 1850 census my ggg
grandfather, Orin Nelson, was living in the Clark household. I am trying to
figure out the relationship between Orin and the Clark family. Also if in
Knox county, what cemetery is he buried at. Any help would be greatly
appreciated. I would really like to get past this road block!

Dear Researchers: I would like to correspond w/ anyone who has a GEORGE
WILLIAMS or a CHRISTOPHER WILLIAMS, b ca 1800+or-, or a RUTH WILLIAMS, in
their database. My objective is to discover the parents of my
gggrandmother, RUTH [or something similar, such as RUHANNA, or possibly
RUAMMA, etc] HANNA(H) WILLIAMS. I believe that "RUTH" could have been born
in NJ. I know that my ggrandfather, GEORGE CHRISTOPHER b 19 DEC 1846 in
Fulton Co IL, was born before she married ROBERT CRAIG BENSON 30 Dec 1851.
I always just paid $7.00. Have they raised the price?
Yes, the original application is worth getting, at least for $7.00. It has
the applicants address at the time and their place of employment.

Hi Janice:
I realize this was from an old message, but I am visually impaired and do
not keep up with this "board" very often.
I was wondering where your early McMurtries were from. I have a MARY
MCMURTRY, possibly from Greenwich, Sussex Co., NJ. I have been unable to
locate her, but have found McMurtries in that area.
She was reportedly married to ALEXANDER WHITE, born in 1709.
Does this ring any bells for you?
Thanks.

I am away from home & my notes for another several days. I don't have much

was the statement that the Deulen & Virdens were somehow related otherwise.
So far unverified. I shall respond when I get back to my material. M.Barnett

Here are a couple of great sites about the Orphan Trains:
Orphan trains of Kansas
http://kuhttp.cc.ukans.edu/carrie/kancoll/articles/orphans/
"Beginning in 1854, charitable institutions in New York City began
sending orphans on trains to the west to find new families, feeling that
the children would fare better out west than on the streets of New York.
Orphan trains arrived in Kansas between 1867 and 1930, and some
5000-6000 children were placed in Kansas homes.....
