Hi Pat:
I'm sorry that I didn't know any of the people you mention. I know Mulberry
St., and the road between Galesburg and Knoxville, but not the shops or the
people. you mention. I guess it has been too long for me to remember the
businesses, and I didn't have occasion to need a garage or motorcycle. My
dad took care of the car stuff; I didn't have one.
I checked my high school year book for Haggerties; thought the name Colleen
sounded familiar, but no luck.
Jerry Kennedy sounds familiar, but as I sa

I was looking for something else and found a Soper will listed in the index
for 1862 for Septimus Soper with Alvina Soper and Joseph W. Holyoke as
administrators. Because it is in the book, it means there would be a will
on file in Knox county available.
I don't know if you have this or not but the name caught my eye.

A researcher on a different mailing list asked about Abraham Lincoln Thomas

be a good place to ask about my lines.
Here is the information I sent her.

Hello Ginny,
Thank you for responding to my message posted. I would appreciate the current names of Soper posted from that area, from the phone book. The name has also been spelled Sopher and Soaper in earlier records.
Since you are going to Knox Co. next month, I would be most appreciative if you have the time, and did some digging for me as you offered. The biggest area of confusion for

Pat,
Thank you so much for your help. I had looked at the 1860 census, but had
never been able to decipher the name of Gill. The writer wrote with such a

On the 1860 census I wrote down 'Harris' age as 68. Your note said

Hi Cherie:
Unfortunately no. Scott is my married name. My husband's family came from
Dungannon, County Tyrone, Ireland about 1848/50. And I have run into a
dead end there I'm afraid. I have contacted a research company in Ireland,
and since the family was Catholic in this country, they searched the
Catholic parishes there, but did not find them. They had no civil records
of marriages, births, etc. in those years, so I'm afraid I'm going to find
nothing more there.
As I said, I was born in Galesburg,
Hi Pat:
This is really fun. I'm having people writing to me from all over and all
because of the post on the IL Knox web.
I didn't remember the names of Frances or Jerry Anderson, so I looked them
up in the GHS Reflectors for the years of 1936, 1937 and 1938, but I didn't
find them.
Do you know what years they lived or went to school there?
Also, I don't know any Kennedys any more, but there was a family that lived
on South West Street, near 1st (or was it 3rd) St. near the C., B. & Q.

I am looking for obits or any other info on Gustav W. Anderson,

I would appreciate any help.

I would like to find the exact date of Erastus Soper's death. The
census reports were from Wataga and Henderson Townships, Knox Co., Ill.
Does anyone know the names of surrounding cemeteries?
Hello Marilyn,
There are a list of Knox Co. cemeteries @
http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Hills/4502/knother.htm
There are some errors in the names of towns associated w/certain cemeteries, mostly in the "Henderson Grove, Henderson, and North Henderson" town names. That should not directly affect your search, tho'.
