1. RE: [ILLASALL-L] Prairie Farmer [1]
I don't believe they normally name farms in LaSalle Co or most of Illinois, I would imagine that the address was Streator, Illinois. The Prairie Farmer Directory's that I have looked at do name the actual owner of the farm if it is not the one listed at the start. I would presume there is some relationship but no idea what it is. Otter Creek is probably the Township and the land is located in section 11 of that township. Each township is normally 6mi by 6mi broken up into 1 mil square sections with 36 se

3. [ILLASALL-L] Dooley/Tarpy [1]
Hello LaSalle: Would anyone have any information on Michael Dooley and Mary Tarpy? When they were married? Naturalization papers? Death & burial? Any other Dooleys or Tarpys? Etc? They appear in the 1870 and 1880 Peru census, living on Calhoun (?) St. Two children that I know of: Ellen, born @1860 (does not appear in 1880 census) and John Michael, born 1862. Thanks

Streator is the name of a town in LaSalle Cty. Look like his address was Route 6, Streator. I do not know about the rest. 5. [ILLASALL-L] BERNARD, ADOLF [1]
Hi! am new to the list - just subscribed. I just found out my ggrandfather was in Northville township in 1860. Per the census he was there & married to Adeline with six children (Josephene, Eugenie, George, Adeline, David, and possibly Adam). Adolph or Adolf, and it seems, Adeline came from Alsace, France - I believe in 1850. Tried to find him in the 1850 census, but no luck. Perhaps he came after the census, although the oldest girl Josephene was 10 in 1960 and said to be born in ILL. Somethin

Jim, Haven't talked to you for awhile but saw your message and I have a brother-in-law who lives in Baker and I can ask him if he knows anything about the church you're looking for. Have a great day. (I am on this list as well as DeKalb because a branch of the Townsend family lived in LaSalle County.) Lois---I am doing my greatgrandfather, Philip Charles GREENWOOD. I have him in DeKalb Co. in 1860; the family is on the 1865 Squaw Grove, DeKalb Co. census. His first wife Margret Leacock Greenwood died Feb. 1865 after having William. Philip had Jenny, whom I found on the 1870 DeKalb Census living with the Leacocks(matern

Lynn: Could you check your Lasalle County book sometime for the surname of Farritor/Faritor/Ferriter? I would really appreciate any information on this family (my Ggrandfather and his mother and siblings). They were Irish and it seems to be difficult to find much on the Irish. They were mostly in Streator. Audrey Annable Franklin Lynn Tuohy wrote: > Greetings Steve, > > I can check these names for you, but it will probably be about 3 weeks from > now before I do so. Hi Jack, Please let me clear up something. I don't own a copy of the LaSalle County history. I live in Dallas and make use of it at the library here. I'll be happy to check the names for you whenever I get to the library again, but you might want to post your request to all subscribers. You'll probably get a faster response! 12. Re: [ILLASALL-L] Prairie Farmer [1]
Steve, Alfred Gaff would be the name. Streator R6 is the post office address. Otter Creek, Sec11, is the location- Section 11 of Otter Creek Township, La Salle County. T120a means he is the tenant on 120 acres. Mrs. H. Gaff is the landowner. (1902) means he has been a resident of La Salle County since 1902. The 1880 census shows a Henry Gaff and family living in Otter Creek township. Mrs. H. is probably Henry's wife Rachel. Unsure of the relation to Alfred.
