May you live to be a hundred years, with one extra year to repent.
If you lived in Gallatin county, Illinois, as did the family of William

Dear Members of the Massac County RootsWeb Site,
I was not asked to write this, but I feel it is necessary under the
circumstances to protect our web site. First of all, I apologize that my story about
my ancestors coming to the country to seek religious freedom went out to the
entire membership. It was sent to the general member ship in error. I was
responding to one person only. When we get a letter from someone on the site or
we open a general membership letter, we must be careful to check t

newspapers on microfilm at the library dating back to 1866, but many of the
1880-early 1900's are missing for Metropolis. They've bought rolls of film
for other areas when the Metropolis newspapers are missing. Also, they have
in book form, Massac county Memories by Paul Fellows, Vol. 1-4. These are
newspaper excerpts from 1849-1872.

Gather round; the story you are about to read is true. The names of
the participants are real and do not need protecting. [Liberties taken]
I learned of this story from a biography entitled
Panther-Across-the-Sky. It is also in the book, The Frontiersmen by
Allan W Eckert (1967). The Author says that the book, though usin
Regina,
You indicate in your article that you are weary of receiving religious emails and want to take the opportunity to state your side. I don't recall reading any messages posted on this list regarding the issues you mentioned. It would seem you are attempting to sway people to your way of thinking. Isn't this what you found fault with?

I myself feel, that is what our constitution and bill of rights gave to
us in the USA, AMERICA--- and should be left like it was and left like

long as it is not any barbaric believes od worshipping the devil, a
cult, or offering human sacrivices, but respect our believes, and the

I will be coming to Massac County to do some research on my CRENSHAW ancestors who lived there in the late 1800s. Can someone tell me what hours the library and court house in Metropolis will be open? Also is there a local newspaper?
Grateful,
Olivia "Ollie" Kytess

across the river from Metropolis who is also cousin. I decend from
