No, I have not gotten an answer as yet on this. Surely there is someone out
there who has a copy of this 1855 and 1865 County Census Record.

I think you are right on that, now that my memory serves. She still can
make look-ups on either the indexed or non-indexed portion. If indexed, the
price is about $5.00. If unindexed, an hourly rate applies. She may still
be able to help.

If anyone got offended, that is their problem. It is long over.
The South had their genocidal prison called Andersonville in GA. Also
the North had a notorius prison in PA, I believe plus one (or two)
at Alton, IL The Great Escape took place in Alton Remnants of the
wall are still standing. That is when a tailor was imprisoned and

walked out in front of the North's nose. I'm from IL and have been to

Bette, I thought the site was interesting. I've tried for years to find

The State census' are stored in Springfield. They are available to view
there or can be sent on library to library loan. You can also request a

Joyce,
Have you gotten an answer yet? I am definitely interested in the 1865
State census. I saw it once, but was so light I couldn't read it. BUT
know that there is a Nash on there, believe it is a William or Wright.
Need to see the 1855 also. Have you heard of a response to this query? So

Ahem...did you guys know that Molly Kennedy has transcribed the 1865 census
on her web site www.mollx.com and has it divided by ward? Ward 5, though
not posted is complete, and she is working on ward 6 now, but it is worth a
try! She informs you how to search on that area.

I think your best bet is to check with your closest LDS library. I think
each of their churches provides access, usually one day a week, and you have
to request the materials in advance. There is info on the main LDS site
that should get you started. I've never needed to use their local
facilities myself but know that many have.

It would be beneficial if all mail subscribers would change the subject of
their email to what they are querying about. READ THIS SUBSCRIBER does not

the location of the surname in Montgomery Co IL. Take this as constructive

Hi, folks--
I went back and looked at the string of messages on this topic and saw that
Juli Claussen gave a reply several messages ago. (Juli--I saw your second
posting of your message in the list archives, but some people may have
missed it.)
"The IL State Archives has it for 90 of 100 counties existing at that time,

I don't believe one exists. Censuses were taken every ten years from 1790,
and copies are available, with the exception of 1890 which were largely
destroyed.
Thanks to everyone with suggestions and ideas.
I just did not want my surname 'everywhere' when I did not even USE IT for
emails.
I appreciate everyone's help and concern in this matter.
I will stay in the group and-- learn to do better.
Thanks

How do I change that for future postings.???
This is a major privacy issue for my family.
Should I unsubscribe and then use a pseudo name?

Thanks for this info. Erma lives in California, and I live in Brookings,
Oregon.
Our Library, here in Oregon, is so small that they do not even have a
microfilm machine to view any census records. They will not even post any
Genealogy Records, or Books, for people to buy regarding Genealogy, and I do
not deal with them, unless I absolutely have to, they are about the worst
Library system, in the Union, as far as I am concerned.
I will check with the Crescent City Library, in Del Norte County, North
