Thank you for your help. The description was typed exactly from the copy of the deed. I
interpreted it the same as you.
Now for the next question - are there any records for Glendale Cemetery?

This grave is located south of Eddyville in Pope County on the farm of
Ethel Maynor. I recorded the above information sometime in the 1970s.
As I remember and noted, there were only three other stones there and
they were creek stones but in talking to Albert Maynor, son of Ethel, he
says there are other stones there with inscriptions.
Can anyone shed light on this man?
Thanks, Linda Killingsworth
I'm trying to determine where someone would be buried in 1840.
Timothy SHUFFLIN d. Oct 15/16, 1840 in Pope Co. I'm not sure of the exact location where the family
lived, but his estate papers show he had an account at the general store in Golconda. Federal land
sales show that his wife, Sarah Jane, purchased land on Nov. 30, 1840 in W 1/2 SE section 29 T12S
R5E.
I've searched the online records, but found nothing.
Any help or advice always appreciated,
Becky

I found a Tiskilwa in Bureau Co., Illinois. The Tiskilwa post office changed
from Indiantown on March 1, 1852. It remains active and serves the Lone Tree
and Providence areas as well. Tiskilwa incorporated as a village on april 6,
1840. The village includes the historic communities of Indian
Town/Indiantown, Wappa, West Windsor and Windsor. Some 951 people resided in
the village in 1960. The information is from the book "Illinois Place N

Thanks for looking, Cheryl. My Gage would not have been in Pope County in 1855,
and the D. M. Metcalf listed below is probably David Mitchell Metcalf. He and
his wife, Rhoda Ann Crouch Metcalf, came from KY and would have had Tabitha Ann
Metcalf in 1856. In case you come across an 1870, 1880, or 1890 census later,
let me know. All of the Gage children I am seeking were born in Bay City, Pope
County between 1874 and 1900.
thanks!

Bud,
I found in Pope Co. Marriages. Vol. 2 by Lee and Foss a Susan Widerman
(age 17) who married a Abram/Anderson Sbarger (age 21) on January 12,
1878. I don't know if there is a connection here or not. Susan's
parents were Charles Wiederman and Louisa Giltz.

Hello.
Need information on a ggf, ISSAC NEWTON BAKER, b. ca.

Moved to Arkansas later, m. Sarah Elizabeth Nichols,

Hello,
According to his descendants, James Whiteside owned a plantation north of
Dixon Springs as early as 1811. His grandson James A. Whiteside later
operated the health resort at Dixon Springs. Some of the Whiteside
descendants are still in the area. Some of Whiteside's freed slaves stayed
in the area, first on the bluffs above Lake Glendale and then in the area
north of Glendale.
For more information, check out an article I wrote a couple of years ago on
Dixon Springs State Park. I interviewed some of

Bill,
Do you have anything on Dolph Waters, son of James Armstrong Waters? The
Whiteside book by Don Whiteside states that James's parents were Pleasant
and India Whiteside Waters. We have conflicting information to that. The
Pope Co. History book and Sandy Boaz, a cousin, states that Wm. Waters and
Caroline Westmoreland are James's parents. Mom said that her grandfather
was also was a James Armstrong.Waters..Nothing more is known of Wm. and
Caroline.
The Walters have a Wm. Waters Walters, who had a

and read the rest of your webpage.
Guess you work with Ellen Hise?

Hope that more folks will "butt-in" so those cemeteries can be found! We were
living in northern Illinois during the 60's and not sure which Pullen field had
the racetrack. All of the big barns are gone. One smaller barn in the center of a
flat field remains. All the houses are gone from the Pullen farm. Rick is very
busy, he takes his family to our church on Sunday and I will check with him there
and see if I can find out more about this cemetery. My husband used to work on the

The following land description was in a warrantee deed dated June 9, 1840 from John Whiteside to
Timothy Shufflin. I found Hayes Creek on GNIS, which shows it near the Johnson County line, but I'd
like to pinpoint the location a little more than at.
"on the water of Hayses Creek containing Eighty acres being the half of the North East South quarter
of Section Twenty nine in Township Twelve south of Range five East. "
