Oops. I forgot to include Goodman. I have a Susan A. Goodman who married
in the 1870's in Massac, but can find no record of her anywhere. Yes, she
lists Illinois as her state of birth. If she wasn't from Massac, could it
be Pope?

I appreciate your notice about the Pope Co. Website's picture of an"effigy stone" at Whiteside. It looks a little "fancy" compared to some others I have seen because the head or disk part has an incised or chiseled 360 degree circle within it. Now, if I could just pin down the stone's location and learn how to get to the cemetery site without trespassing, etc. Thanks again.............

That cemetery is called Miller Grove cemetery. There are two different
Whiteside cemeterys within a half mile of me. One has an effigy tombstone.

Kay, do you have a Patriot Index? If so would you mind looking up some
names for me? My mother was a DAR; her name was Eithel Charline Evitts
Norman. Also two of her mother's brothers were SAR. I would like to join
but do not know the name of the Patriot they used. Their names were Coy
Anderson Randolph and Victor Hugo Randolph. They were descendants of John
W. Randolph of Pope Co.
Could you help?

Have you traced the Vaughn family in Pope? I am searching for more information on Elizabeth Vaughn who was living in Randolph County (now Pope County) Illinois in 1806. Have you any information on who she is, the names of her children, etc?

I need to download my Frizzell info. It was given to me, but it may help.
Ida and I are from the same family. She is my aunt and is MUCH older than I
am. (nine months) I will try to get into my files this weekend.
We are from the family of J. T. Frizzell and Margaret Mariah Hall. They
were the parents of Mary Ida Frizzell who married James A. Waters. I know
there is a Nathan Frizzell, but I'll have to get in other puter.

Of course, how could I forget that. Her father, Wm. was in Revolutionary

Margaret, so I am using my Waters side.

Dear Ms. Bowman:
Sorry about your file deletion problem. As you may recall, my primary
interest has been the MORSE family from SC that entered Pope Co. in 1817
via GA and TN.. But like everyone else with the geneaology hobby, I have
followed the many branches to open files on such disparate names as Allard,
Barger, Bean, Bracewell, Bryan, Buckner, Caldwell, Climer, Dent, Fulkerson,
Hill, Jackson, Jenkins, Karns, Keasler, Mason, Mick, Miller, Overton,

Hello Sharon,
I see you are researching the Frizzell's. I am , also , interested in
them. In particular Hester Frizzell daughter of Nathan Frizzell and her
marriage to Nathan Rushing.. Is there proof for this wedding and when and
where did she die? Both the Rushing's and Frizzell's were in NC and
Bedford Co., TN and S. IL. We were closely tied as there was a Nathan
Frizzell Rushing and a Nathan Rushing Frizzell. I would be glad to
exchange information

I have Hamilton and Anderson. Is your Ramsey and Anderson connected? I have them together in the Franklin Anderson line (son of Jacob and Drucilla)
My Hamilton is connected to my Lands/Robbs side. We also have some connections to the Crawford family through our Waters side. It isn't a direct line, but the Hamilton and Anderson are. I have Anderson on both sides.

Dear Sharon,
Do you know if anyone in DAR has used William Penny as a source? I have
some notes to that effect, but I don't know if it is anything that would be
considered conclusive.

Jan,
You can go to the NSDAR website and get an application for your mother's DAR papers (without knowing who her Patriot was.) It will cost you $10 for her papers and should take 6 - 8 weeks to arrive.
After that, you will only need to apply to the DAR using a 'short-form' since you are her daughter. You will need copies of your birth certificate, and if you are married, your husband's BC and your marraige certificate. If your mother was unmarried when she joined you will need your father's BC and thei
