Has anyone on the list heard of the name of Jean-Baptiste Guillemot (dit Lalande) who settled in the Kaskaskia area in the early days? He was born in Montreal in July 18 1694. He married Catherine Ouabanakicoue in Kaskaskia about 1722. and I have only the name of one of his children 'Marc Antoine' who was born Oct 7 1723. Surely there were others.
I would be interested in any descendants of his. I am especially hoping to find a Guillimot who married a family member in the latter 1800's. This family memb

It is a shame to see what has happened to the grave sites of our ancestors.
I have a cousin (1 of 8) who lives in Sparta, IL has told me of the
destruction of the headstones in the "Old Bethel Cemetery" where our
gggg-grandfather, Hugh McKELVY is buried. Most of the headstones there are

This makes it all more confusing in some ways. I have talked to you before
and we have comman ancestors etc. I was really trying to find the name of
the Guillemot man who married a great or great great Aunt. His first name is
unknown to me. I thought I might find out more about her, if I found him.
Then when I was searching something in Canada, I came across this J.B.
Guillemot who married in the Kaskaskia area.So I thought I might try
searching that way.
She was still single in 1870, but a w

I know that there is a "Barnard" house in Chester.
I looked in the Chester phone book and no Barnards
are listed. My sister-in-law lived in this house
many years ago. It was quite a nice house. It is
located on Harrison

Clyde Barnard, but this is so long ago. The house
is brick and overlooks
the Mississippi. So many trees are blocking the
view of the river though.
I certainly wasn't much help in locating William,
was I?

Last week while on a visit to southern Illinois, I had the opportunity to
visit the Stoker Cemetery which is located about 1.5 miles south of Percy.
Thanks to the efforts of Mr. Bill Moughton, my wife and I, along with a few
second cousins, made the trek into the woods to visit the gravestones on our
ancestors, Robert and Benjamin SOPER. After wading through the tall grass
and ticks we located both tombstones. My g.g.grandfather Robert's stone was
