The Chester paper started in 1848, but to my knowledge there are no issues
before 1873 at this time.
The Sparta newspaper started in 1839, I believe, and is still being
published.

I am also interested to know if this is the family of Sarah BROWN who married
David SIMMONS and was mother to Rebecca SIMMONS who married McKinsey JOHNSON.
I don't yet know the answers to you questions, but I will post the info about the book
well ahead of time.
For anything about genealogy use David McKelvey's RANDOLPH COUNTY PAGE. Use the links to
find the address and phone number of the
RANDOLPH COUNTY GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY. Everyone should become accustomed to using this
page. I have typed this address for
different people about 15 times on this list. I am not complaining, I just think if
everyone got used to using this page, it would be better for the

Dave, I was looking at the Randolph County Page wondering why my book, SCHROEDER FUNERAL
CHAPEL, has not sold any copies at all. After all, 30 years of names and death dates
should be of some value to someone. But while I was doing that I noticed that the RCGS
phone number needs to be corrected. Write this down, Folks! 618-826-3807
Now you can call!

Hi, I found a site with deed listings by doing a google.com search. There
were other interesting hits you might want to check out. Here is the site

Do you have Malinda Pillers in your database. She was married to Seamon
Butler. (His name has been spelled in a hundred different combinations so
don't let the spelling of the first name throw you.) I am researching the

Hi Velda ...
Susan (KNIGHT) BELL's death certificate lists her
father as Thomas KNIGHT, born in Marion Co, IL. The
death certificate did not list her mother's first name
.... and the last name is hard to read, but it appears
to be something like FLORSTON. Unfortunately, I have
no other info on the KNIGHT family.
Hope this is enough.

Connie, I will look for a birth record for you, or death cert. I need a marriage
approximate date in order to look for that. In Illinois, the marriage record holds much
