My wife's maiden name is Ilsley and I have been researching her family history for about a year. I have got back to the marriage of Edmund and Mary Dollery in Basingstoke in 1711 and have posted the Gedcom on WorldConnect. Does anyone have any leads for Edmunds origin?

I visited the Society of Genealogists library in London yesterday and looked
at the F S Snell collection. He was a genealogist of about a hundred years
ago, who made an extensive study of the families of Berkshire. Included in
his collection are extracts from every Berkshire-related will submitted to
the Prerogative Court of Canterbury (PCC) between 1391 and 1737. I found
fifty-seven references to Hildesley, Ilsley, and similar. The notes were
handwritten and he used his own shorthand, but I can vouch that

Can you please provide the url for the Illsley family history which you
stated you've posted to WorldConnect?

Dear Arthur,
Thank you for your note. I am glad that you liked the tree. I got the idea
when I saw someone use Excel to draw an organisation chart. As you can only
put lines on the grid lines, it means that you sometimes have to add spaces
to get the names in the right places. I also soon found that it is a mistake
to try to change any column widths as these do not transmit over the
Internet. Only the emboldened grid lines print, but I tend to suppress the
original grid lines so that the chart is easier to
