Dear Karla,
My Godmother's name was Schuckman, and she was born
near Allen Co. in 1900. Her father was instrumental in
founding St. John Catholic Church in New Haven. I have
a bit if information about that family I can share with you
when I have a little time, later in the week. Was your family
Catholic, by any chance?

Hi, all!
I recently discovered that Family Tree Maker's site now has an on-line
subscription genealogy library. A monthly subscription is $5.95. They claim
to be adding 3 new books daily. There are several Allen County vital records
books (deaths and marriages) on there now. It's worth checking into,
especially for those of you who don't live near Allen Co.
GenealogyLibrary.com is at: http://www.familytreemaker.com/_glc_/index.html
Happy hunting!

Wisconsin.

I recently came across a reference to a male child born in Allen Co. in 1888,
son of A.M. SWELSLEVER (father) and L. STEVICK (mother). Does this sound

Hi Gary,
Birth records are available from 1882 - 1932 on microfilm at the Allen
County Public Library.
The Allen County Health Department has these same records, so there are
none available for the time period you are researching.
You may still be able to obtain birth information through church records of
baptism, military pension files, or some other source.

Dear Therese,
My Godmother, Madeline Cavanaugh, nee Schuckman,
was Virgil Schuckman's brother. She was also my

I can tell you a bit about that family, if you're interested.
I knew Virgil and Gertrude. Both are deceased, and buried
in St. John Catholic Cemetery in New Haven, IN. Let me
know if you would like more information about the
Schuckman family. I have a bunch of such info.
