Is there anyone on this list that can help me with a cemetery listing in
Hope, Ind. My great uncle William Edgar Harris and his wife Lucinda Ellen
Webb Harris are buried there. I was told there is probably only one cemetery
in Hope. This may or may not be true. Anyone have a listing for that area?
Many thanks. Wade Wilburn, Christiansburg, Va.
My husband says that when he grew up in the Martinsville area, the local
funeral home was named: Cure & Hensley Funeral Home. You might post on the
Morgan Co INDIANA forum for more information on HENSLEY.

Hi Olive,
I have been having trouble with my mail, so I thought I would email you
and see if you had tried to send that picture of Phobe Lambert to me? If
you didn't get my previous email with the Lambert info on it, let me
know and I will resend it.

Don't know if I can help or not but my great great grandfather Solomon Ponsler's
third wife was Sarah Jane McCurdy and her first husband was a Henry Bixler and I
believe from Pennsylvania. There are/were Bixler's in Shelby County, Illinois
in the late 1800s as this is where Sarah Jane married Solomon (Solomon & his

Hi List,
I'm a new member and am just putting my feelers out for information
concerning the William & Magdalene (Isley) Snepp Family. My mother is part
of the tribe but, a part which moved away some time ago. I understand that
there are still some there which attend St. George's Lutheran Church. Thanks

Hello, my name is Bill Mings I grew up in Ogillville and I knew Mr. Levy
Harris. I was young but I remember a little about him. I will tell you what
I can. He lived on old state rd. 58, his home was just a short distance from
the old Ogillville grade school. Yes, his home sat at the foot of a small
hill. a bridge is within site of the house and the school is on the top of
that hill. The house still stands, but it is in poor shape now. The school
is used as a storage and volunter fire station now. MR. Harris
I hope someone in Bartholamew count can help me. I have been trying to locate
any descendant of my great-uncle William Edgar, "Ed" Harris who moved from
Virginia to Hope, Indiana somewhere between 1910 and 1920. He had several
children including Claude, Clarence, Ada Jane, DeweyL., Laura May, Levy E.,
William C. and Gracie E. Ada Jane married William S. Hensley and lived and
died in Martinsville, Ind. I think Levy was the Levy Harris that lived in old
Ogilville across the road in front of the market

I photocopied a listing of cemeteries in Haw Creek Township (Hope area).
There were 13 in the booklet (carbon copies-all done bc-before computers!).
I did not photocopy all the readings-only those cemeteries that my ancestors
seemed to have populated.
Here's the list:
Cemetery south of Old St. Louis
Critser Family Cemetery
Gailbraith Family Cemetery
Graves on Peter Wrig

to this list also. I will follow this e-mail with another containing the
index of names of those who are pictured. There are several group pictures

Verla,
I don't remember seeing any references to anything other than just
Baptist. Southern Baptist would be pretty rare in this part of Indiana. The
Hope Baptist Church is affiliated with the American Baptist Conference. I
always considered Hawcreek to be Independent-
I noticed in your recent response on the Bartholomew Co. message board that
other surnames in your line include "SNIDER/SNYDER."
Are you related to and/or do you have any information on my direct ancestor,
Charles H. Snyder and his wife Lavinia (Louvina, Lovina, etc) Pettcome
(Petticom, Petticome, etc)? Here is all the information that I have:
Charles H. Snyder was born 24 July 1838 in Forsythe Co., NC and migrated to
Hopeville (now Hope) in 1857. His parents, Alexander and Mary Snider came

Gas Out !
-------- Original Message --------
Anytime we can stick it to the man it's a good day. Last year on April
30,1999, a gas out was staged across Canada and the U.S. to bring the
price of gas down, and it worked. It's time to do something about it
again.
Only this time lets make it for three days instead of just one. The
so-called oil cartel decided to slow production to drive up gasoline
prices.
Lets see how many Canadian\American people we can get to ban together
for a
three day period in Apr
The Rootsweb site for Bartholomew Co has a listing of county cemeteries --
access www.RootsWeb.com/~inBartho/bcgraves.html. They have a "mapping"
feature, which unfortunately does not give address or telephone numbers.
But there are plenty of places to get that on the Internet, once you know
the names!
The Hope cemetery that I am familiar with is the Moravian Church Cemetery,
shown on this list as "Morayan," which is a large, lovely cemetery on the
western end of Main Street, and probably the largest ceme
