I am looking for information on the Warthan family. While researching
yesterday in Perry Co., I found a marriage record for William Otto
Warthan to Bertha C. Aders dated 25 Oct 1907. It states that William
Otto Warthan was born in Dubois Co. IN Mar 17, 1870. The marriage lic.
states that he now resides in Perry Co (1907). I know my
Brady/Warthan/Gilpatrick families are located in Siberia in Perry Co. and
I know that Dubois Co. is closeby. Does anyone know or can anyone check
to see if these families

Hello
I think this is a trail of counties from clay Co IL to Orange co Ind. and some where along the way these two people got married. The date is between 1850 and 1869 both were born in Ind. and moved to IL, The man is Joel Foster any marriage for him in this time span and the Woman was born Sarah E. Smith and may have married some one else before she became Mrs. Joel Foster so any marriage for her listing some one else will be most welcome. I have tried the lista and cannot find them. I hope so
Shirley, in the 1870 census (index) of Dubois Co., IN, published in 1999
by the Dubois Co Geneal. Soc., there are no Warthans listed in the index.
Of the names that might be soundexed similarly:
None.
The closest the index comes is with WIRT, WORTH, WORTHING (which
might be a possibility) and WRSE/WORZ.
However, in the Dubois County, IN, Marriage License (index), 1873-1895,
I find:
WARTHAM, Cammel L married to Waddle, Sarah 11 15 84
and WARTHAN, William S to Waddle, Margaret A 11 18 80.

Hi Shirley,
I received a copy of your message. I have extensive families from the Dubois
county area in (Jasper, Haysville, Dubois, Celestine). My parents were both
born near the town of Dubois - so I have been doing research in the records
of this county since 1977.
I have most of the marriage records copied - from the Jasper library. I
skimmed thru the sets - and the only thing I found was:
PHEBE C. WARTHAN MARRIED FIDEL GITZ, SEPTEMBER 18, 1857 - BOOK 1, PAGE 394.
I don't know if this fit
The copy of the death record that I have for William Jeremiah Rodgers who d.
15 Jul 1927 in Daviess Co.,IN states that he was born 30 Apr 1863 in Dubois
Co. IN and that his parents were William Rodgers and Mary Ann Sudduth, both
born in KY. I did find a marriage in 4 Dec1849 for Mary A. Sudduth and
William Rodgers in Harrison Co.,IN. Seems like they were all over the
place.
I've not been able to find any census records for any of this family until
the 1900 census in Daviess Co. IN though I know that h

Thank you Sharon, the marriage between William H. H. Suddeth and Mary Corn
may be significant, in Mary Ann Suddeth Rodgers mother's will 1866 Pike
Co.,IN , a William W. Corn was one of the Witnesses.
Also the Jeremiah Rodgers may be significant. I don't know.
Thanks so much for providing me with this data.
I truly appreciate it.
Sincerely,
Anne
