2. [INFRANKLI-L] Franklin e-mail list [1]
okay, from the response I personally received, I have changed the status of this list. In the long run it may hurt the list, but due to the complaints of the recent spam that slipped through the worldwide rootsweb server that this list is on, I have made the changes. As of this moment, the following will happen 1) ONLY those that have subscribed to the list will be able to post anything to this list. In otherwards, a passing genealogist curious as to what the list is or someone who may have a question t

4. [INFRANKLI-L] Census Poem [1]
I enjoyed the poem about the census taker and our "ancestor". Thank you for printing it. Several months ago, on one of the lists I subscribe to, someone printed a poem about researching our families. It had a line about looking at tombstomes, and was generally very touching. If it was this list, and anyone has it, would you please send it to me? I'd appreciate it! Thanks in advance! Carrie
5. [INFRANKLI-L] Hackleman [1]
In response the Mari's post. Hackleman was German Luthern. He was asked to leave the church because of a little too much tippling. I am wondering about the migration route too. I think they came up the Ohio River to Rush County and probably overland from there, ever traveling westward from the looks of it. Their descendants wound up in Missouri, one went to Kansas and back several times. Patricia Kantzer

11. [INFRANKLI-L] spamming [1]
The entire rootsweb was spammed a number of times in the last 24 hours. There is a spam detecter on all rootsweb mailing list accounts, however when it is hit so many times and a very short period of time, it cannot keep up. when a spamming e-mail hits our list it comes to me if it is caught by the computer, I received 11 messages that it caught and I think only 1 or 2 went to the whole list. So that means the percentages were very high. I have no control over the spamming by unauthorized people. The onl

17. [INFRANKLI-L] Abbeville, SC connection [1]
Hi, fellow list members! I just read Pat Kantzer's post to the list today about her Franklin Co. Webb and Hackleman ancestors who were born in Abbeville, SC and Scott Co., KY, respectively. Since I too have ancestors who were born in SC (I think Abbeville) and moved to Scott Co., KY, and then came to Franklin Co., IN in the very early 1800s it got me to thinking about the migratory route they took. A researcher asked me, after hearing about the route they took, if they were Quakers. I think there is a g

It was the first day of the census, and all through the land each polster was ready...a black book in hand. He mounted his horse for a long dusty ride, his book and his quills were tucked by his side. A long winding ride down a road barely there, toward the smell of fresh bread wafting up through the air. The woman was tired, with lines on her face and wisps of brown hair tucked back into place. She gave him some water ...as they sat at the table and she answered his questions.....the best she was able. He
