1. [INGIBSON] Kings Station Cemetery? [1]
Has anyone heard of this cemetery? A distant cousin sent me some information that stated James W Hanks & his wife Marium (Hughes) Hanks are buried at Kings Station Cemetery. I know that they are buried at McCurdy Cemetery near Princeton. Is this an alternate name for the same cemetery, or do they just have the wrong information? Thanks Ron Hanks

Ernie, Thanks for the reply. I had suspected her information was wrong, but had wondered if it may have been an alternate name. As always, you have been most helpful. Its always good to have local history experts like you helping out. THanks again. Ron Hanks > I think she has the wrong information, Ron. The 1881 Gibson/Pike atlas shows the cemetery on the "Heirs of Robert McCurdy" farm in the SE qtr of Sec 11, not near either railroad. I would think "station" would indicate being on the railroad. On the 1881 map, Kings Station shows, on the railroad, at the corner where sections 25, 30, 31 and 36 come together. Gerald L Spore On Fri, 08 Sep 2006 07:54:40 -0400 "Judy Sandage Murphy" writes: >

Where the cemetery is located is where Kings Station used to be - this was never incorporated and not on many of the maps. Each cemetery wasn't named for the town's name but for churches, family names, etc. and this is how the cemtery got its name.

I think she has the wrong information, Ron. You are correct, they are buried in McCurdy Cemetery, there is no cemetery at Kings Station. Chambers, Hollis, Hudelson, Marsh Creek and McCurdy Are all within a mile or two of Kings Station and those listings are on-line on our "Gibson County Cemeteries" page.
