But I was in another county courthouse recently and they had a book (like the type deeds are found in) of enlistment records with individual information for each recruit and I was wondering if Hamilton County had a similar book. -Les-

I found an Ernest E. Sowers in the 1910 and 1920 cenus listing 2 children. In 1930 only the daughter was listed. The son born about 1915 was not listed. His name wa Keith M. Sowers. Anyone have any information on him or this family I would apprecieate it. Ernest/Earnest Sowers was listed in the Jackson Twp. First, I assume you are aware that the Speedway is in Marion Co., not Hamilton Co. In the late 1950's, an early cemetery was moved when 30th st. was widened east of the track. All the gravestones were removed and discarded. There is now one stone near the site in the Wesley Methodist Church lawn near the intersection of 30th St. & Tibbs Ave. marking the site. The Lowery Cemetery transcription identifies John H. Butterfield, 3 Sept 1808-4Dec 1865, along with the graves of two daughters (Minerva and one un-named child). You can find this data on Lowery and other Hamilton Co. cemeteries through Rootsweb (www.rootsweb.com/~inhamilton/lowery.htm for Lowery) or view all transcribed Hamilton Co. cemeteries by going into home page of Rootsweb, clicking on USGENWEB, then entering clicking on Cemetery Transcription on left of page; then entering Hamilton Co.

If you go to www.topozone.com and enter Hamilton Co., IN it will give you a selection list of sties.
